Temporary hallway floor covering

Hi! I live in a terraced house with very knackered floorboards on the ground floor. They are ok ish in the livingroom but in the hallway they are currently covered in a seagrass rug that needs to go but underneath are lots of holes in the wood etc. Ideally I would like living room and hallway redone. Either repaired or covered in engineered wood. But that is not really possible at the moment which means I can currently only do something with the hallway. Has anybody ever done something temporarily like a lino? Or has any other ideas what to do with the hallway? I was always tempted by tiles but would then have a different level to the living room... arghhh help!!!!
