Unsure which walls to feature in my unsymmetrical living room :-(
Comments (13)Thank you guys for suggestions - I like the idea of coloured blinds in the windows Pat Oliver designs - trouble is, we are quite close to the road hence why we chose in the end the wooden Venetian blinds for privacy - although with the wall colour they make everything look orange (the colour on walls is "hot sand" by homebase but is more orangy than I had hoped :-( Its very hard to know what colour to paint the room with the biscuit carpet, and natural wood...I can't really change too much as we don't have a budget. I was hoping to get the look and definition I wanted by paint/paper...but might speak to my hubby to see if we could get some more shelving. Minnie - yes good idea about putting back a little of the wall - I was thinking the same myself - although there is only one door to the room and it is smack bang in the middle on opposite wall which makes things more complicated. :-( I imagine it would be expensive though as you say. I have been trying to find pics of rooms with 2 chimney breasts myself so if you do find some, please can you post them for me as I would love to see them. Thank you both again for your comments xx...See MoreLiving room centre light or spot lights?
Comments (12)Hi again. Your room is modern, contemporary and elegant and I'd definitely look to soften the look with a pendant light. I can estimate the size of your room and I agree with you, keep it simple and stylish. Quality, is your key here. I'd be tempted to look at glass, something that's reflective or that's clean (non-fussy looking) as you have a lot that's 'talking' in your room. Some ideas would be... https://www.desreshome.co.uk/lighting/pendant-lighting/industrial-style-white-dome-pendant-light https://www.desreshome.co.uk/lighting/pendant-lighting/antique-bronze-wire-beehive-pendant-light maybe white or grey too https://www.desreshome.co.uk/lighting/pendant-lighting/large-glass-dome-pendant-light this large glass dome (see the smaller size for a better picture) https://www.desreshome.co.uk/lighting/pendant-lighting/copper-ball-pendant-light https://www.desreshome.co.uk/lighting/pendant-lighting/glass-cylinder-pendant-light - we have a larger one than this but not on the website - see the three glass cylinder pendant light on the website https://www.desreshome.co.uk/lighting/pendant-lighting/white-gloss-dome-pendant-light https://www.desreshome.co.uk/lighting/pendant-lighting/contemporary-bubble-saucer-pendant-light The size of your light will depend on your room and all lights can have the cable drops made shorter. Comments (10)Hi. It's hard to tell if this will work as I can't tell the door width but what if you were to build a ŵall to wall bookcase on the desk ŵall incorporating both the tv and radiator? Ignore the design of this one, was just showing a pic of one against a window, You may need to widen the pillar by the dining room entrance slightly. Perhaps ammonite by F&B for the ŵalls with a floor that picks up one of the tones in the table. I'd also paint the coving in the ammonite and a darker shade of grey for the bookcase. Have a 6ft sofa (allowing for side table and lamp) opposite the bookcase (not against the ŵall) with a chair angled in front of the bookcase and perhaps go for an upholstered stool on legs as per your inspiration pic. You could use Romans on the windows, maybe in a vertical stripe and then use geo patterns for the cushions. Re lights I'd add ŵall lights to the bookcase and a flush for the living room, preferably just 7 inches high. You can afford to hang something lower over the dining table. Are you keeping the tall cabinet? I think your current table will look lovely with some upholstered chairs...See MoreHelp with my living room
Comments (19)Firstly, your living room looks amazing!! I think that it does need something else though. Nesting tables/side tables would be great. Try something like these? These would look great as they'd match your current colour scheme. These lightly gold coloured nesting tables would look elegant and compliment your blush/neutral coloured sofas and table lamp. Also, might be good to add some extra accessories that are a little different such as - Coral pieces always add a unique touch to any home and these would definitely match your colour scheme perfectly. Glass squat jars are extremely popular at the moment, with this smoked one you could leave it empty or fill. If you're looking for a mirror, these would look lovely above your fireplace as theyre elegant and charming but also unusual which will attract attention to the centre which would hopefully help even out. These items are all available on our website :) Hope this helps you. Any questions, please contact us! - www.shabbystore.co.uk...See More- 4 years ago
