Bathroom tiles and accent wall help!

I'm trying to choose tiles for a shower room - I bought a black shower tray ages ago and am now trying to work around it! The room isn't large - around 1.5m x 2m.

My thoughts are to have a grey stone effect floor, marble walls and a black herringbone accent wall in the shower in alternating gloss and matt black tiles.

My shower will actually be mounted on the external wall and the bathroom door is opposite the toilet, but this is the basic mock up.

Can I bring the the accent wall out to 2 or even 3 sides of the shower tray or should I keep it to just the back wall? And is black too much of a contrast with a bathroom of this size?

Also, will a 60x 60cm wall tile work in this space or should I stick to 30x60?

any other suggestions are welcome!

Hi Donned2004, Depending on your budget, I would go with a textured wallpaper, also frequently called 'hessian wallpaper'; these are basically plain colours yet the texture adds depth. I feel like for the size of your bathroom, a solid paint colour would be far too heavy. However, if you'd prefer a paint: I'd go with faux painting. Again like the textured wallpaper, basically plain yet with a distinct depth. I think either would look stunning in this particular room. As for colour, I'd stick with soft beiges or similar so as not to divert attention from the tiles and simply because the room is relatively small I wouldn't go with a bright or warm colour. Hi Ffion, I have to agree with Thelma Henry Interiors. Use a large format wall tile, even 450 x 900 to have as few grout lines as possible. Porcelanosa do several pale grey tiles, Rodano Acero 80 x 80 cm, Nápoles 44 x 66 cm, and others. Paint an "old" white above to match the white of your floor tile. Make sure there's enough contrast between the paint colour and the white of the sanitary ware to avoid having the walls look dirty. Hope that's useful.

the original plan was between sink and mirror EXACTLY imetre and then a STRIP above the mirror to the ceiling but the builder says you won't see it so high up as it's tiles up to 2 40 metres. An extra 3-4 tiles. and if I don't do it underneath the sink will look weird. another 4 titles. not in the budget I'm afraid. any other ideashowi can use about 8 tiles of 30x30???

In my opinion it's all about: undertones, natural or artificial light, overall tone and other materials. Undertones - you need to clarify what the undertone is of the tile (that means is it biased towards a cool possibly blue colour or a warmer colour). Look at a paint chart, perhaps F&B next to the tile in good light. Try to match the tile with the correct colour, for example Strong White has a blue undertone, Skimming Stone has a violet undertone. If you do this it should work. Light - once you have identified the undertone you could paint the wall in a dark or light version of that colour. Consider natural light and artificial, and also consider the temperature of the LEDs. I only use very warm which is I think 2700 kelvins - it makes a huge difference. Overall tone. Some rooms look insipid because everything is too tonally similar. Rooms that are all tiles the same with pale walls can look like this. Adding a darker tone (it could be wood, or a wall tiled darker or accessories) will improve this. Materials, try to place samples of everything together to get it right. Wood or wood effect will add warmth, if you have a room with no wood, will it be cold? If wood isn't an option make sure there is tonal interest.
