Show us your narrow kitchens please!
After a knock through I’ll be looking at a kitchen/diner space of around 8.5m x 3.2m. Quite a long narrow space which no matter how much a trawl for images can’t actually gauge examples with the narrow width (you never kind of know when looking at images).
With that in mind I would love to see finished examples of renovations or just your general kitchen with that similar width dimension.
I either plan to have units across both walls, or (I know a lot will say too narrow) just one wall with cabinets and a long island in the middle with a little overhang for stools, leaving the wall behind the island free of anything (apart from deco).
I know an island in this space is highly controversial but just want to explore all avenues! Pictures of ideas I have are below, I just don’t know their total width.

Comments (21)Hi Laura, You've received many suggestions and some have been quite good. Particularly useful are the photos above of the French pied a terre with the slim line cabinets on one side. If you need somewhere to eat, you can swap the table and chairs for a bar and stools with slim cabinets either side. And don't worry about losing the panel radiator. Your plumber can install a hydronic plinth heater that connects into your central heating. I think the key to your colour scheme should start with your new cooker. Have you considered beige cabinet doors in high gloss? They would make your range look integrated and help reflect light around the room. Polished black granite (or laminate) worktop will pick up the black trim on the cooker. The arched lower door of the cooker points toward a more traditional or transitional look for a cooker hood (black) or an integrated hood. Beige and black tiles would keep the walls of the working area scrubbable. Look at metro tiles for a high gloss finish or patchwork tiles for some retro designs. Lastly, change over to LED lighting with warm white lamps. Avoid harsh white light overhead, but don't forget worktop lighting. 3 years agoMy little kitchen is lot narrower and smaller than yours at 2.5m wide x 4.6m long. The kitchen end is galley style and the two sides leave a gap of 1.2m, so pretty snug. If I’m cooking I prefer others not to open the fridge or washing machine! The other end houses a sideboard and sofa.
