Curtains & Living room colors
Comments (4)I'd add some brightly coloured cushions, similar to your Ideabook by tamar schechner but maybe not so many. I'd keep your existing black ones. Because of the rug and sofa it feels a little oriental to me. I'd add a much bigger coffee table which is slightly lower. This one is from 4living and maybe some ceramic garden stools at the side of each sofa or opposite the big sofa. This stool is by Oj commerce, I have picked this one as I haven't seen this design before so could just be plain and less bright! I'd move the chair to the corner of the window and try positioning the black coffee table in front. Longer term I'd get something bigger for the bookcase wall. I think you also need some art on the wall picking up a little of the cushion colours...See MoreLiving room curtain advice please
Comments (13)You need to make a decision. Do you want the fabric to bring colour and pattern to your room or do you want to keep the whole room neutral? If you want pattern, the next decision is what style- check or plaid, stripe, floral or geometric? Then what colour(s). The room, as you point out, is not overly bright, but do you use this room much during the day or is it an evening room? You could opt for deep, rich colour that warms the room at night like burgundy, deep turquoise or terracotta. Adding patterned cushions with similar colours will splash colour around the room. Also, I'd replace the Roman blinds with matching fabric to the curtains, otherwise that will will lack colour. You could make a single curtain for each of those smaller windows in your main fabric and pull it to the side furthest from the fireplace, tied back. As to style, since you don't appear to be overlooked, floor length curtains on the front window and patio doors can be on a 50mm pole extending at least 150mm plus finials each of the windows. To stack them further back extend the pole more, but take care not to have wall showing just before the window recess. Tieing them back would allow more light to come in. Check out readymade by Montgomery https://www.montgomery.co.uk/ready-made-curtains/whitworth-21-duck-egg/9927, John Lewis (Scion Navaho), Terry's Curtains, Heals. If you choose a multi coloured pattern, later changes to your lounge will not necessarily mean that you need to change the curtains. Remember that decorating your home is less about style and more about you and your family. Have fun....See MoreMatchy matchy curtains and sofa?
Comments (36)Carolina I think I saw that pic earlier today. It looks great but the piping involved isn't cheap. I live in an area where every day things get thrown out into the back lanes behind the terraces, so whatever I build will most likely involve a bit of skip ratting. The mirror above the fireplace was a back lane find....See MoreCurtain colour for living room
Comments (11)Hi Cookie S, You have an excellent eye. The room looks super. John Lewis do a really lovely Berber fabric that would give a bit of textrure and warmth but is still plain. They do the fabric in a warm grey/brown and also a steelier grey depending on your wall colour. I can't see it on their website but I know they stock this in their stores. They will do ready made black out too. Your poles and curtain tops are just as important. Looking at the photo I think a dark bronze (not bright brass) metal pole would compliment the scheme that you have going on with the period legs on the chairs and would help tie everything together. A simple curtain top like a pinch pleat would also compliment your elegant design and not be too fussy and compete with the geometric rug & cushions.
