Designing kitchen around this splashback - wwyd?
Comments (89)What an amazing forum this is. Do hope you have a clearer picture by now. I adore your splashback, it must not be relegated to a utility room. Buy more of the same for that! Perhaps you could frame an extra piece as art in another area. I've painted my kitchen cupboards in 'Hebridean Mist' which goes so well with the slate floor tiles, then a pink fridge freezer and pink edged worktop tiles tie in well. I like to add a little bit of matching colour from one room to another room, moving through the house like that. It givers synergy to all my rooms, none of which are the same colour, but all of which have a hint of another room. Anthology is a fabulous site to look at for lighting. Wayfair has a gorgeous orange glass globe light I want badly! I actually adore the combination of orange, shades of grey, white and black. A simple thing like 1 Cygnus Papilios cushion by Alex Goode can pass one colour into another room....See MoreKitchen flooring dilema
Comments (13)I wouldn’t go for polished tiles - nightmare to keep clean (apparently) according to a couple I met who don’t even have kids or a dog to encourage the muck Love the wood effect flooring with your room and it really would warm it all up. I presume it’s the vinyl tiles you are looking at rather than a large tool of vinyl? Lots of people on here have both UFH with the vinyl tiles and say it’s great! Bear in mind that the vinyl will be warmer to touch in winter and summer than any tiles without the UFH on - so that’s worth considering in case you are like us and don’t have the heating on 24/7...See MorePatio advice and ideas please
Comments (39)@rach1922 - you are quite right that people harvesting Indian sandstone were exploited, as well as the use of child labour. For this very reason many UK suppliers have installed their own staff in their own quarries to ensure this does not happen. So basically there are companies who have total control to ensure the Stone is ethically harvested, such as Marshall’s, London Stone etc. I used Global Stone who supply many builders merchants. Sadly, we as a society exploit many people in many countries so that we can enjoy cheap clothing etc. It’s a minefield....See MoreInside/Outside Flooring effect using LVT
Comments (2)Thank you. I think deep down I thought that, but was hoping to be proven wrong, or that someone had used lvt tiles inside and continued with a matching Porcelain tile outside. I don’t think my original question was very clear!!...See Moreminnie101
