Lamp size for narrow night stand

I’m looking to purchase 2 narrow night stands as I have a gap of 47cm around the bed. I’ve found one that I like (pic attached, 32x32cm) but I’m not sure what size lamp to purchase. The bed has a tall headboard (150cm) (pic is of my bed, but mine is grey) what size lamp should I be looking for please?

I’d invest in some wall lamps rather than taking up valuable surface space. They don‘t even have to be wired in, you can get plug in wall mounted lights.

I too have small bedside tables and ended up purchasing some clamp desk lamps and attaching them to my headboard,

Oh I have never heard of plug in wall lights, I will take a look and see what I can find.

What would I regularly keep on the bedside table if I have wall mounted lights? I was only planning on a lamp and a clock.

Hello again all and sorry for the delay! i have now got a throw and started to extend my gallery over the corner. I grabbed an old chair and rug that were kicking about in my parents' garage and put them in the corner to give me some idea of what i want. actually, i kinda like the beat-up chair but i don't think the rug looks right. is it too small? Now i have the reddish throw (LOVE it... from the Avoca shop in Belfast - amazing place, if you are ever in Belfast do go!!) I am actually considering replacing my blind because i prefer red tones to the turquoise. Just not sure what I would get instead? Still need a fab lamp and more cushions but wisdom says wait for the January sales! I still think I need something more eyecatching on my vanity too... Considering a map above my bed but I don't know if it would compete with the gallery wall too much? have to say i do love the "hello" sign!

Yep her stuff is out of mine, did I tell you that before? She was suppose to move into the house and it fell through the day before so all her things bar sofa and bed had to be stored in mine( she got the keys 6days later though). All the upstairs is getting painted just now so they have stored everything in this long living room just now. I've got a HNC in interior architecture but I liked the technical side more and was also worrying of jobs( doesn't seam to be a lot of jobs in Glasgow for interior design) so I swapped to doing architectural technology, this is my 2nd year doing this course so HND, see how this year goes and either take a job at technician or go into 3rd year at uni for same course. I can't draw at all, all done con computer with cad/ sketch up/ and now Revit but I'm hopeless at that just now,, I can trace though lol

Help needed with sideboard size and tv position

Hi Darren, I think when you have the space its always better to go bigger. As life and time changes we all end up needing more storage space in the end. Choosing the larger option also helps disguise more of the plug sockets and cables on that wall which can look insigthly when your sat on the sofa. In order for rooms to feel relaxed and have flow, where possible it's also important to maintain balance but centreing items to each other. Therefore i agree the TV should sit in the middle of the side board. I would also bring the TV down further on the wall. You don't want to be craning your neck and eyes up to look at the TV when sat on the sofa. I'd love to work with you on your interior project. I’m assuming you’d keep things you want readily accessible to you from your bed. Glass of water or water bottle, a book you’re reading, glasses, alarm clock/phone....

In terms of styling, maybe a small vase, tea light candles, small succulent plan, etc..

I have just come across another table 30x30 so this one would be even better as we can have a slightly bigger gap on each side.

Which do you think will look better? The table will go against a wall painted with the colour fine taupe. The other walls are cottonseed. The bed will be grey and the carpet is very similar to the pic attached. The skirting etc is white and we have oak doors.

Not a fan of the mirrored bedside table. I think would would be a good, seeing as you have a lot of grey furniture. it’ll bring some earth along with your oak doors.

I thought about the plug in wall lamps but the hanging wire put me off. I also wanted touch lights as I hate having to feel around for the switch in the dark, I’ve gone for these as they are slim and have USB ports (handy for if we charge the phones overnight) :

I will see how these look when they arrive. I’m planning to keep it simple, a lamp on each side and then just glasses (my side) and a clock (husbands side). If I have space I will look for a small plant for each side too, it depends on how it all looks as I don’t want it to look cluttered.

Would you recommend putting a mirror above the bedside tables or should I leave the wall empty? I thought it would like nice next to the tall headboard. I’m unsure though as one bedside table will be next to a mirrored wardrobe.

They are nice little tables which have drawers for all the necessities of life that Wumi has listed that you don’t want cluttering up the surface.

You would hate my bedside tables which include all that Wumi has listed and then some! There is nothing worse than having to leave a nice warm bed to fetch something you need.

Incidentally there is such a thing as a USB charger that fits inside a drawer if you designate a phone as clutter too.
