US ceiling light to be fitted in the UK

Hi everyone, I am looking to get the below ceiling light (made to US standards) to fit in my London, UK kitchen. Can anyone advise if its all abit too faffy? Our electrician has noted we will need a transformer and it would ideally go in the ceiling but if it breaks it will be a job to fix as its not accessible. I am wondering if I can hide the transformer somewhere close by ish but more accessible. Any thoughts/advice would be welcome.

These curtains would look best professionally made. Are you wanting sheers or fully lined curtains? I would recommend choosing wide width curtain fabric 300cm this will be more cost effective than 140cm wide. You can have your track mounted to the ceiling. If you have an interior designer or curtain company quote they would recommend the best solution. If the extension isn't built yet you can ask the builder to allow for an area to fix your track. Do you have any wall space on either side of the windows to allow for what's called the stack back ( where the curtains need to sit when open) You don't want this getting in the way of the door. Hi Annie, Here are few options within your budget you could replace this fitting with. I like your photo's shade style. What you perhaps can do is source the ceiling rose / suspension and the actual shade separately. It gives you more choice and will probably save you money as well. With lighting, I'm no lighting expert but you will need a mixture of lighting types and you need to think about how you are going to use the space you have to determine the lights you want to use. You will usually have a 'pendant' light hanging from the ceiling, in some cases you might have spotlights in the ceiling. This is your main light. You can then layer this with lamps and wall lights to soften or brighten the light as appropriate. You will also need 'task lighting' - this could be a reading or desk lamp, or spotlights over the kitchen worksurface or hob. In the UK you can buy bulbs of various shapes and sizes and with varying colours of light from bright blue-white to warm yellows. You can also buy smart bulbs that you can control from the wall switch or your smartphone which can change colour, intensity, and brightness, for example, Phillips Hue bulbs.

I fail to see why it would require a transformer as its still just wires to a standard e12 fitting (But I will defer to your electrician. If it was me doing it for meself I'd just wire it straight in but I'm like that) couldn't you have the transformer placed somewhere more accessable to supply a seperate 110v circuit to it? maybe in a cupboard?

Can the fitting be re-wired with E14 holders. Your electrician should be able to do this.
