Bathroom refurbishment

Has anyone installed one of these. The thought of not cleaning around taps fills or descaling a shower hose me with joy.

I have not installed one but recently recommended to a client as they don't want the control directly under the shower head, plus the wife hates cleaning :)

I can't but agree, no tube or taps to faf with.

Hello. There are a couple of options with regards to metro tile trim depending on the look you are after. To keep it simple, clean and more contemporary go for a small pencil trim alternatively there are bevel trims which are more authentic to the metro tile look but chunkier and more decorative. When tiling bath panels please remember the underside of the bath needs to be accessible for plumbing maintenance reasons so either create an access panel or ensure the whole of the bath panel is still removable. The bathroom will look bigger if you use the floor tiles.

I don't think there is any standard with tiles, just lay them the way they look best and with least amount of cuts, unless you are trying to match with flooring in adjourning room. I know with wood flooring the standard is to lay length going towards the window, or down the length of the room.

Hi Sarah It sounds like your plumber is either incapable of doing the job you are paying him to do, or he simply doesn't care or take pride in his work. I doubt that if you allow him to continue that you will be happy with the end result. Bathroom refits are not cheap, cut your losses now and find someone who you can trust to do the job well.

Hey there! To be able to advise best, it would be good to know what pressure you have in the property - or perhaps what system your house runs on? (i.e. Gravity Fed system, combi boiler, megaflow, or gravity with a pump?) Working with clients regularly on this, we tend to find that one valve to operate both can be nice. Also on a practical front, if you are having a shower over a bath, then you don't have the fiddley worries of cleaning around taps placed on a bath! :) Depending on pressure, you can get these with two outlet (to control a bath overflow filler and a shower kit) or three outlet meaning you can add a fixed head to the above combination. Yes in my first house and instantly regretted not having a hose to actually clean the shower. Even worse if you colour your hair for example

What exactly are you looking at? The shower head, the dials, lack of hose?

We fitted something similar but not identical. We have a shower control on the wall for temperature etc and also a diverted to switch it to filling the bath via an overflow filler. We also have another separate hose shower too (same controller) so you can still wash hair over the bath. It is a godsend for cleaning - so much easier than the old shower and taps.
