awkward space in bedroom- help needed
Comments (55)Hi, in that space I would put a nice relaxing framed print and beneath it a shaker style shelf with pegs to hang pretty scarves or hats or bags. I have one in my utility room between two cupboards and it gives a lovely feel to the room as well as being useful. Mirrors are not good feng shui opposite a bed and although shoe storage is great it might be too much between the wardrobes. Pretty colours!...See MoreAwkward long narrow Bathroom design HELP
Comments (5)Hi there, It looks like it will work like that although the bath is obviously under a very low part of the ceiling. Ideally you need to see an elevation of the end wall to determine exactly how high the ceiling is at the point you step out of the bath. You don't want it so low you hit your head on it ever time you get out of the bath! I would also consider using a 1700 mm long bath along that end wall and running the soil pipe out along the near wall so your WC is on the immediate left of the door as you walk in. This might give you both the WC and the head end of the bath under the tall part of the room....See MoreNeed help with kitchen design
Comments (10)Thank Oasys, I really like that transformation. I've given plenty of consideration to drawers and pull out storage so as to fully access all cabinets. I'm hoping mine will have a similar finish but thinking of a wood effect laminate worktop. Not sure about the flooring yet as wood might be too much. Having seen the lighting on those cabinets I'm now being swayed toward this idea instead of a simple centre arrangement. Though I currently do not have a cooker hood, this will be included in the design. May I ask why this kitchen doesn't have one?...See MoreAwkward apartment layout - tiny kitchen & bath - need open plan ideas!
Comments (14)I love the 'where do you keep your elbows' conundrum. ^^ It was great to see your layout because it was what I was thinking to try and reclaim some of the hall space. Danielle also captured the idea of switching the bathroom and the kitchen extremely well - and I really think this works too. I realise though that moving the door to the garden will involve a new set of stairs down to the garden - a big change, but perhaps minimises the changes to the internal walls as a balance. Jonathan's idea is also very creative - I had never even thought of this possible configuration. I realise as I am seeing these ideas that I'm more willing to give up some of the larger bedroom space as well, even if it off-sets the fireplace, to keep the idea of the wood burning stove as the heart of the flat. It may be that we are a small family of 3 and I'm thinking of this apartment as a family space, rather than for sharers. For sharers, maximum bedroom space is probably ideal... but for a family, at least in our case, we don't need much bedroom space. Also wondering about making the large bedroom smaller - to the edge of the fireplace to increase the bathroom. And moving the kitchen to the main living space... but not sure if this is overthinking things. And maybe Danielle above is the simplest option, even with replacing the stairs.......See Morerinked
