Is this summerhouse a composite wood or natural timber?

I am looking for a corner summerhouse to replace one that is already there. Dimensions roughly 3m x 3m

Hi they are all made from Western Red Cedar so last around 40years.

I have been using many decking products for the last 14 years and I have yet to see a composite product outperform quality hardwood. If one considers the weather, use and age the composite products, they generally look tired after a few years with little hope of getting the finish back to how it was when new. Compare this to timber and even after the worst weather, heavy use and 10 years service life, the timber can be brought back to life; just as it was when it first installed. This image is from a 10th floor central London project (240 sq m) where Exterpark Teak was used. You can see where the decking has been cleaned (foreground) and in the rear of the image you can see where Owatrol Oil has been used. The second image demonstrates a close up for the same terrace after maintenance has been completed.

Well done for choosing a product made of preservative treated timber (tanalised). The finish you put on needs only to be decorative. My favourite product for a garden building is Osmo Country colour. This is a natural product and is pleasant to apply with no noxious smells. http://www.osmouk.com/sitechaptern.cfm?bookid=Products&chapter=82&page=265 They do not do a cream but I would suggest something a bit duller unless you want the garden building to stand out. Also you do get dirt and staining after a while and cream will show this up unless you like painting and want to put another coat on every year. You could try light grey or pebble grey. I did a garden shed in Dove Blue which looks good among foliage. Do make sure that the building is designed to take the weight of a green roof.

Also had similar issues. To my mind anthracite or black windows can look good IF they are done well - they look good when they are good quality windows with modern flat profiles, fitted to a house which has had proper architectural consideration. The problem now is that all the cheaper upvc double glazing companies are doing them with thick frames and chamfered profiles, and they can look clunky and old fashioned rather than sleek and considered. Our sliding doors only came in 4 colour choices, so in the end we have gone for RAL7021 (a soft black) for those - on the modern rear extension - with RAL7006 (beige grey) aluminium composite windows elsewhere on our 1930s house. The sliding doors are in and the 7021 does look really good, almost invisible as the frames are very slim, and I think it works because it's the very modern extension. The windows aren't in yet so I can't comment on how it's all going to work together. I am keeping my fingers crossed...! Our windows will be Velfac which are alu outside, painted timber inside and you can choose different colours for interior/exterior. They weren't as expensive as I thought they were going to be, so it's worth getting a quote for aluminium composite windows before you decide.
