Attaching IKEA internal drawer to Symphony kitchen cabinet door

I recently bought a new build house that came with a Symphony kitchen that has very few drawers so I decided to buy some internal drawers from IKEA. The base cabinets are a mixture of 450mm, 500mm and 600mm widths. IKEA don’t do 500mm internal kitchen drawers so I got creative and went with a mixture of Komplement solid (i think they’re MDF?) and wire drawers. I’ve now had the idea to attach the cabinet door to the front one of the solid internal drawers so that it pulls out rather than being on hinges. What would be the best way to do this? I was thinking of using a combination of glue and screws, but I’m not sure what glue would be best so any suggestions would be most welcome.

Additionally, I’d quite like all drawers to be connected to the cabinet door so when I pull the door open all the drawers open too, and I can then close the one(s) I don’t need. I was thinking I’d get some adhesive magnets to make this work - does anybody have any recommendations? Or alternative ideas for this?

Can’t you just buy some drawers runners and drill these on to each side of the existing carcase.

Hi Shelley! I'm loving your idea of the stacked cabinets including drawers and glass fronts symmetrically surrounding the fridge. Did you decide to do it? If so I am desperate to see a pic! victorian tilesLove those blues, much better than the white. You can get some beautiful 'mock' Minton tiles now. I gave another lady a link to them for her Victorian Hallway. The blend of blues should go beautifully with the light and dark, which i love. The darker ones at the bottom, keep the height in the room and the lighter ones above make it wider and airier. Fabulous. Can't wait to see the pics. I personally like these best, as they also have a touch of warmth and you were going to put in a wooden plate rack if i remember, so will pick up on the warm wood tone, blending the wood colour into the kitchen seemlessly. These are my favourites as they are quite 'Mintonesque' ! Victorian TilesThere are a miriad of others to choose from, but the above fit with everything in my opinion, both the light and dark blue and the wood. Hi Sunny. If you need the dining table there I would definitely go for a banquet style seating area that can be pulled out when required but give enough space on a daily basis for passing sensibly. It seems like this space would really benefit from a 3D render package allowing you to visualise the space and how it will look when finished. You would then be able to try a few different options on the door front as well as the seating area. They don't only allow you to visualise the space saving you from making costly mistakes but you can then also use them when sourcing and with contractors to get your ideas and requirements across more clearly. Looks good although I have a few comments/suggestions: 1) 1300 doesn’t seem much for an ironing board, ours is 1700 2) Cleaning products are going to be a pain to reach Suggestions to fix these problems 1). Make all the shelves less than full depth, ie 450 deep, then you have space to hang the ironing board on the back of the door. 2) Put bucket and laundry basket (large lightweight items) up high above the microwave and cleaning products down low instead. Another suggestion: I have seen pictures of a pull out rail for mops, brooms, vacuum sticks like this one https://www.simplygoodstuff.com/store-n-slide.html. I can’t find one available to buy in the UK, but it should be fairly easy to make one by buying a non sliding mop/broom wall rack and attaching it to a drawer runner, and then screw the runner to one side of your tall slim space. This will make it much easier to access your mop etc and means you can get away with a slimmer tall space and wider shelves.

Daisy, there isn’t room as the cabinets are filled with internal drawers.

Sarah, the door handle is on the outside of the door.

Obviously the door handles are on the outside! What position on the outside? Can't you fit the door hinges now? Is that why you want to attach a drawer to the door? It would have to be the bottom drawer so you can access the others. This is one of my Ikea drawers.

The door handle is in the same position as yours, in the upper centre of the door.

There is no room for door hinges, but even if there was room I still want the door to pull out like a drawer rather than swing open so that there is immediate access to the contents of the attached drawer.

I know it would have to be the bottom drawer.

If you have any suggestions as to the best way to attach it that would be great.
