Where could we put a second bathroom?

We are about to complete on a 1930s doer upper. I have one teen at home and an older child as a frequent visitor.
We would like to put a shower room in and eventually convert the main bathroom to an ensuite. There is a toilet under the stairs so hopefully the pipe work would be easy for the bedroom above. However, I keep toying with the idea of having it in the corner room and making it a Jack and Jill type bathroom with the other bedroom. This way, I wouldn’t lose space making a corridor and could have room for a bath in it too.
what would you do, and is there another alternative I am missing?

Comments (7)Thanks everyone. All makes sense, and the two bedrooms in the loft would be a good idea. Our plan was to do the ground floor work first, and because we are removing a bathroom, to add upstairs (but didn't want to lose a bedroom as we won't do the loft for a couple of years, and didn't want to go down to a 2 bedroom). i guess an option is to do the loft and upstairs first, then the kitchen/utility/downstairs loo. we'll have to look at the coatings. Comments (3)Hello, As option 1 have you ever thought about creating the 2nd bathroom on the ground floor? If the wall between the toilet and the kitchen isn`t load bearing you could break through the wall and create a bathroom + a laundry next to it. In this case the kitchen would move to the back of the house as you mentioned, and the existing dining area will be the new kitchen with an island. Great idea to cut an opening between the dining and conservatory and to use that space as the new dining room. Option 2: In case you don`t want the second bathroom downstairs, maybe you can sacrifice a part of the loft area on the 2nd floor and create there an en-suite. Of course, this depends on the angle of the roof and the inner height of the room. Comments (7)My first thought when looking at this plan is do you really need that huge 5 seater breakfast bar? It’s nice to have the food preparation space but I doubt you’d ever seat more than three people at it at a time. Could you make it shorter and then extend out the bathroom/utility space to be in line with the external wall line. I only say this as the dining table on the plan is quite small and suggests seating 6 people max. It’s not clear if this bathroom is for occasional or daily use. If it’s for daily use, I agree that the shower is too small....See More

We also will be knocking through the kitchen/dining room and creating a utility room. The downstairs used to look like this, so should be easy to change back...
