Living space colour advice - Tan Sofa

Hey, after receiving some great advice from everyone here in my last post I thought I’d seek some additional advice. I’ve found myself drawn towards going for a tan/brown sofa:- (these have caught my eye)

But I honestly have no idea where to start colour matching them to make them work in a room and they are definitely a little out my comfort zone and I’m unsure if I should just shelf it and go for something in a standard mid-grey...

what do people think, what colours would you use with these (from flooring, rungs, walls etc etc), also would you buy a matching set or look to maybe mix them with other furnishings (I’d see another post on here with this IKEA chair that I also liked):-

or would I not be able to mix these styles / colours?

Any and all advice welcome (the more ideas the better tbh, I’ve got a blank canvas and I’m totally out of my depth with all of this! - I’ll add a floor plan so you know what I’m working with... I’ll say now, it’s not much and nothing like the usual type of home posted (sorry!!)).

Only advice from me would be to check furniture sizes and cut out cardboard to the sizes to check out how they fit in the room

Know a Friend of my who's wife went ahead and ordered sofas online and they couldn't get it to fit in the room as it was very oversized 😅

Cannonja is right, check sizing. My brother had to remove the glass in his front window to get his new sofas in!

I think your choices are fab. Tan sofas are a classic that goes so well with many different decors. You could go neutral walls and floor, or navy or green walls. Here’s some pictures to show you what I mean.

Thanks Minnie for the great ideas. I will have another shuffle round at the weekend. I'm all for the TV being on the wall, however, it means hiding the cables and chiselling out the plaster, which I really don't want to do, also at the moment, with the fire that's in now it will look like two TV's stacked above each other? We have another room we use for our office so we wouldn't put a desk in the area that's not used, it's a shame really as we don't use it, and you can't view the TV from there either. Apart from sitting reading I wouldn't know what else to do with it. Thanks for your great advice though, I will let you know how the shuffle round goes. I'm definitely going for the colours of your room, they are such a lovely contrast.

Have you considered a textured or even a stripe carpet? Hi, I think you have to sort of ignore the speakers, from a design point of view. Even though they are big black objects, so is your TV. They are there for a reason. I think you need to focus on what you'd like for the floor, sofa, curtains, media unit and wall colour. The floor, walls and sofa are the largest surfaces in your room. I would personally prefer a wooden and/or white media unit, wood (effect) floor, medium to light coloured sofa and medium/light coloured walls. You could consider painting the TV wall in a darker colour, so the TV and speakers won't stand out too much. For example: I know these speakers are smaller, but it would also work with your larger ones. It's everything but the speakers that makes this a cosy room. If you know what I mean :-)

Love the tan colour, and as Sonia showed, it can work well with other materials so your space isn't all matchy matchy. Actually the blue chairs in the second example look really good! Style wise, I'd leave out couch/sofa number 2. I see a very visually heavy, blocky and low design which I don't think will work well in your space. Either of the other 2 designs will keep the couch elevated and visually lighter so your room doesn't sink down and overbalance towards the floor.

I agree with Kazzh re the middle sofa. I’d also avoid the 3rd though as the wide arms take up unnecessary room.

where is the first one from to see the measurements and will try and pull together some ideas?

If I could get a chair and footstool from DFS with the sofa that would make a good combination although I’m happy to buy from anywhere tbh (just thinking it would be easier getting everything in one delivery).

The IKEA chair comes in a couple of different colours, I also liked the turquoise finish but not sure if that would be too much and still go with the tan sofa.

I like some of the ideas in the photos so that you for liking them (the layering they done really make it feel multidimensional and like a lived in space) although I’ve never been confident enough to use a patterned rug! As far as colours go I’ve started to lean towards off-whites, warm neutrals, greys, yellows and blues, would these be able to work in conjunction with a tan sofa and each other (grey/blue/yellow as accent colours with the off-whites and warmer neutrals as the main staples of the room).

Also what do people generally think when it comes to electronics (TV, Soundbar, Home Assistant), is it better to go with black or white coloured items?
