Need suggestion on Living room layout

Hi Guys,

Below is the plan of my ground floor layout & first floor,

im not able to finalize on the Livingroom set up. We have a space in first floor for the lounge ( 13.5 * 13.4 ) room but i wish to have a space as living in the ground floor itself.

Do you think the place is spacious enough?

Please help me in coming to a conclusion

Thanks Minnie! Great tips. The sofas shouldn't have been overlapping that was just laziness in shifting furniture after three full days of painting (lots of trim painted in other rooms as well as everything in here). Love the idea abou the bookcases, will see how that looks. I'm thinking of possibly painting the coffee table black and getting a piece of glass to put over the top to avoid scratches. I think having the two different woods in the entertainment unit and coffee table doesn't work so well. Plant is a good idea too, am thinking maybe on the left hand end of the long sofa (there's a bit of space there) as my coffee table is more often than not my dining table so needs all the room it can get! planning a trip to ikea for some cheap frames (Being in Australia I don't have b and q or Asda, more's the pity!) and going to make some paint chip artwork. Bringing colour in without needing particular artistic talent or costing the earth! thanks again

Personally, I think corner sofas really restrict positioning and getting 2 gives you a lot more flexibility. Re the radiators, I would try and avoid putting any behind the sofa on the right hand side as the sofa will soak up lots of the heat. Instead I would suggest going for a vertical model instead and putting it to the side of the French doors. Give me a call on 01274 515734 if you need some advice regarding heat outputs, etc.

What is the orientation of the rooms? Consider the natural light levels in your design. Pocket doors between the two rooms are potentially a good idea to give you maximum versatility, subject to structural support considerations.
