How to install shower panels onto Superseal Waterstop?

I am coming to the end of a major bathroom refit but am now puzzled by conflicting instructions - Superseal Waterstop tell me to install shower panels directly onto the top of their shower tray seal but the instructions for the Orchard shower panels tell me to leave a 4mm gap for thermal expansion- can anyone tell me which instruction should take priority? (and will

the Waterstop seal will still work if I leave a 4mm gap?)
