Before & After: Master Bathroom Renovation in Kensington
Comments (17)Hi @Huntsmore really love the design! Love the use of space and how the carrara gives an almost unibody look and feel! I think the recess in the shower wall for accessories is ingenious. Definitely a complete transformation from how it was. Keep up the inspiring work! Bringing the mirror forward gives an almost enveloping feel to the whole bathroom. It kind of tells you you are in the bathroom now and the fluidity has a way of setting a tone!...See MoreFamily bathroom Renovation
Comments (35)whizzywig and Man About the House, I have measured and measured and it seems I can’t have a shower more than 80x 80cm after the stud wall , that leaves me 80cm for basin. My concern is if it’s too small a shower, and we will all be mostly using the shower, it maybe too tight. It’s also not a lot of space for two ppl to stand at the basin with storage at the bottom and being hindered by the shower glass on one end and open door at the other. I would not take the basin or rad or anything behind the door as it’s really awkward using it. .. still thinking about this. Am I trying to cram too much in when I and not getting enough room for shower or basin, when I can have a roomy shower in the bathtub ( it’s 1500 x 950) and a twin sinks with counter space ( especially as the girls grow and more than on one will be in there at the same time. I know having a separate bath and shower is a luxury, but only one person can be in there showering or bathing at one time given that they all like their privacy even now....See MoreUpdating a small, white-tiled bathroom and colour advice please.
Comments (15)Sanitary ware. I'm having a crisis of decision making. I bought a new sink and vanity from IKEA: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/washstands-taps/wash-stands/fullen-t%C3%A4lleviken-wash-basin-cabinet-white-spr-39891444/ However, it's occurred to me since that it'll take up too much of the room/floorspace, especially as the sink faces you as you walk in. I've been looking at other designs, and the wall-hung sink with a nicer-looking chrome waste could be a much better option. Added to this, if I'm tiling the floor, I'll probably need to buy a new loo, and IKEA doesn't do matching loos. Therefore...where can I buy a basic loo/basin package? What's the difference between a 'toilet and basin' and a 'cloakroom suite'? Should I go for one or two tap holes? Am I wasting my money? Should I just update the taps on the existing sink and tile-box in the waste?...See Morein despair over bathroom tiles. Help
Comments (10)Before you go ahead & paint the tiles, I’d consider other options first. You need to introduce more of another colour to break up the beige. For example, changing the floor would make a big difference as would changing or painting the vanity unit and mirror. Most bathrooms have quite a lot of white in the sanitary ware to tone them down whereas yours doesn’t. Using either white or a darker wood will help. Personally, I think a white vanity will help to freshen & modernise the look. For the floor, I’d consider a darker wood effect vinyl to break up the colour. If possible, several large plants would also be good - aiming for a spa-type feel....See MoreLena
