Garden colour scheme advice

Looking for some garden colour scheme advice. Have a brown fence but not sure what to do with decking. Also have grey furniture so nothings matching. I don’t want to change fence colour as that will be a nightmare.

From my experience, painting decking means you have to keep on painting it every year or two. Bit of a bore! You may be better off using decking oil to keep it natural and preserving it. You could add some fun elements by going for a bright parasol (lime green, pink or bright blue) and cushions, some colourful lanterns and some fence art like mirrors and metalwork. An outdoor rug is also a great way to jazz up a seating area. With the right decor, no one will even notice the fence!

Thanks for the reply! Currently we’re using decking oil every year on it. I’ll have a look for some bright accessories online. I’ve been looking at garden rugs recently, so many to chose from.

Hi. Did you manage to look at their curtains? I think pattern for cushions is fine and plain linen curtains would look fab. I'm not sure if I preferred your previous layout (Although it may be the camera angle making the tv the focus!). Have you tried the chair next to the tv with maybe a floor lamp? The wall colour is meant to be something like F&B oval room blue or F&B suggest inchrya blue with your walls. Just thinking it brings the fire more into the focus? You could paint the unit the same colour and just varnish the mantel. If in budget I would consider a glass coffee table (with a shelf for books underneath) to complement your mirror and move your teal jars and flowers on there? I'd hang your art behind the small sofa and maybe a smaller piece for behind the chair. Not sure what you think though?

It looks great Sam! I love the cabinet, and the flooring choice too, you’d never know it was lino. We have Lino in our utility room, its so easy to keep clean...lovely and warm and soft under bare feet too! You must be so pleased with it, everything works together really well.

Hallway colour scheme advice

Thanks for both your comments. Those ideas are really nice Rachel. We have original parquet flooring in the hallway, so we will be keeping that and getting it sanded (which should make it lighter once the dark varnish is removed). The carpet will be going (I’m sure it was nice in its day!). We were originally planning on stripping back the stairs to have the wooden steps and a neutral/light carpet runner. However, there are so many layers of paint on the steps (some of which we believe is lead) so we won’t be able to strip back to the wood and are just going to repaint the stairs white and have the carpet runner like you mention. I have attached some more pictures of the hallway. The main dilemma, as you say @colourhappy, is choosing a combination of colours which feels welcoming – not too dark and not brilliant white! The areas we will need paint for are: Lower hallway panelling Walls above panelling in lower hallway Stairs and upper hallway wall Picture rail in upper hall Wall above picture rail in upper hall Woodwork (doors etc) There are lots of different areas so struggling to find the right combination!
