Best kitchen colour / style of open living

Hi, we are building an extension to our bungalow and plan to use the area for an open plan kitchen, dining & living/entertaining space. We love vintage / mid century style and are struggling to decide what colour / style for the kitchen area. We will have a separate utility room so that the kitchen isn’t too dominant in the space. Thoughts welcomed about style / colour of kitchen and layout please. Thanks in advance!

I do agree with all saying storage is paramount.. If you are purchasing furniture and items for your home, use the theory of how many people will be there.. Do you need six chairs when there is only normally the two of you... Improvise.. But we also hoard things that haven't been used in days or weeks. Sometimes months... My Mum had a a theory if it's not used within 6 months you don't need it... I have always tried to do the same.. A tidy home is a tidy mind. Makes your life so much easier.. Never be a slave to your home. Tidy as you go.. Use it move it.. Then you won't have to spend time cleaning and you can enjoy more of a life... Life is to short to spend time looking for things.. And after all.. If it has a place you will find it immediately... Simplest things that's it....

thanks for commenting. i've now decided to go with fnb Joa's white for the living aea. its a greyish cream which i think will be light, warm and cosey without clashing with the other colours. i didn't initially think cream would work as my base throughout the house is light grey, but its quite a greyish toned cream and fits well the cream carpets throughout house :) Kitchen being fitted today. exciting to have it all come together now.

Unfortantly I wasn’t able to find the colour Wattle II or Wattle III, so I can’t match a Dulux colour from our range I’m afraid. Hi Susannah, I would advise you to get samples pots of all your choices and paint the relevant walls (large areas and in corners to check colours in shadow too). Make sure you judge the effect of each colour on the other in the room. Best wishes, JNSQ
