Bi-folding doors vs. 2 double doors
Comments (5)Seen this and given the date i think you will have sorted. But anyway..... Th idea of sliding folding doors is great. The technical quality has got much better over the years and they seal so well - better now than sliding (except if you spend huge amounts of money) They stack smaller (and therefore can blend more) than large folding/hinged. My view would be that you should have a smaller hinged door somewhere close to for quick/easy access...See MoreBifold Vs Sliding doors...?
Comments (14)Clodagh I came on here to post the same dilemma so here's my thoughts. We have to decide with windows manufacturer and builder tomorrow. We have a 3.2m opening onto a north facing garden and have to decide between.... 1-French doors with fixed panes either side or one large fixed panel, cheapest option but lack the wow factor! 2- Bifolds with three or four panes, more expensive and with a North facing garden we get lots of sun in garden but never coming through back of house so wonder how often they'll be open with Irish weather Plus with all the frames it breaks up the view?? 3- Aluclad sliders with two panes, much less framework and still has the wow factor but so much more expensive! I've attached a few pics of our dilemma!...See MoreWill it be warm enough with large sliding glass or bi-folding door?
Comments (7)Hi Kelly, I see that you have not had a reply to your question. So I would like to help, New bi-fold doors and sliding doors have an excellent thermal value. Doors can be made of multiple materials but the best in look, durability is alimininum, with aluminium and double glazed glass zed glass units you will be more than comfortable in the summer and the winter. If you are concerned about the heat coming into the room, for example, if you are south facing, we have a product called thermal glass. We use thermal glass on our roof lights; it is a treated glass that has a tint and reflects heat, the double glazed units stop heat from escaping. I have attached a few pictures of our skylight showing the thermal glass and an example of large skylights and large bifolds, honestly you will not be worried at all with large amounts glass these thermal values. We are more than able to assist you if you still require product advice. Thank you....See MoreBi-fold doors or Sliding doors?
