I have no vision - please help

We've gone back to the drawing board so many times that I can't see the woods for the trees.

Please can you help with what you would do? We've knocked down the conservatory and rebuilt to make space for a kitchen/lounge area. We've designed a kitchen using DIY Kitchens but the steel supporting beam is going to be bigger than we thought, so we've stopped the run before the beam as the tall units we wished to use don't fit under the beam with the ceiling height.

I've attached the plans from the architect, we're having the sink in the island rather than the hob due to it being easier for the extractor. We're also considering a TV on the left wall next to bifolds).

Someone told me about the triangle and it took us off course - we would have to put the fridge behind the island in the bank of larder units.

What would you do with the space?

I would flip the kitchen over. The left wall is much longer and will easily accomodate the sink, prep area and fridge. Added advantages are easier access to utility which could double as pantry, better flow from main part of the house to the garden (currently you have to shuffle past someone cooking or washing up) and of course the kitchen work triangle.

Also your architect shoud provide you with plans that are not annotated. Those technical details are for the builder. The home owner should be given a set of simple plans. Over annotated plans just add confusion for the homeowner. If you print our a simple set of plans and also your furniture, you can cut out the units, white goods and furniture etc and play around with layouts.

Hey Lucy, great colour choice , really like it...very like my living room ! I would go for the copper accessories definitely. I would also be inclined to paint the skirting as well. If you have gone for a dark shade, embrace it...don't then try and counter it with white to lighten it up. Be Bold ! I would consider some bright, green hanging plants (faux if needs be due to lack of light) and maybe an illuminated sign? Also the downlighter shade isn't making the most of the room. I would be tempted to choose something more striking or in white wicker to match the mirror or a gorgeous copper paper artichoke shade from Vitra ? The copper wall-mounted baskets would look fabulous against that shade and you can have spare white towels rolled up in one... I would paint the floor as well and then pop a fab patterned mat down... Oliver Bonas have some great ones. Good Luck !!

Yellow was very popular in the late 1980s - often paired with royal blue or duck egg. As a colour it stimulates brain activity so it's sometimes used in school classrooms. If you must use it, use a F&B wallpaper for your feature wall which includes the yellow. Or scrap the existing feature wall and have the entire room yellow and go shopping for textiles that go with it

Have you thought about silver grey faux silk Roman blinds? Since you have the radiator under the window, long curtains would block the heat if you close them. I agree that it's a good idea to have colours from one room come back in the next room, but am thinking that you could do a rug with blue in it. Or simply a blue rug.

Hi, I don't think it will dominate the space once the unit is painted/tiled. At the moment, the reason it seems to stick out is due to the colour contrast between the green and plaster. If you tile it/ paint it a similar shade to the tiles, it will blend in and look a part. And ofcourse, it will serve as great storage which is always a requirement.
