OPINION POLL - DILEMMA - BLUE PAINT OR WALLPAPER IN LIVING ROOM, HELP
Do we paint in Farrow & Ball paint or with the paper attached? On the chimney breast alone, all votes will be counted and absolutely relied upon greatly. The rest of the walls are painted with Laura Ashley Dove Grey. Think grey is too sombre and yet it is a shade and either do we go with paint or wallpaper. It is not clear that the wallpaper is a true teal and silver. Stepladders hiding somewhere and I can't reach it to get a better shot.

Hi,We had a similar discussion. In the end we went for Hague blue paint to both alcoves. Rooms not finished yet, but we love it. Intact its now everywhere in the house ! Lol.

2 years agoI personally wouldn’t paint or paper the tv wall in a darker colour than the rest of the walls, it throws the room proportions out with the ceiling height. Thats just my opinion though..It may potentially work better with a picture rail though To reduce the ceiling height?
Excuse the colour and poor paint effort, the “teals” come out a horrible shade!
It’s a nice paper, love the texture!

Comments (6)I have used "peaceful panorama " from Valspar. It is more muted and "dirty" than Stiffkey. My front room is naturally quite dark, and maybe that affected the colour of stiffkey blue. Comments (42)I think that the fire place is beautiful as it is and does not need any make up!! The sideboard on the right is no so big at all and if painted with different colour than grey and distressed could become a much lighter piece with its own character. I would take the top off the left one and again shabby chick it, filling the doors with ornaments to make it more interesting. Comments (6)Almond White is a lovely, warm neutral which will marry with so many bolder, but warm tones. Removing the wallpaper and painting that wall in a slightly deeper shade would look good. I rather like the stone F&B shades like Oxford Stone or London Stone. Light Gray looks lovely too. If you want to go even darker try Mouse‘s Back. Do you like green at all? Pigeon is a soft but deep green and very cosy. Hague Blue and Inchyra Blue are beautiful rich inky shades that would also look good, but they may be a bit too dark for a north facing room?
