Camouflaging ugly air conditioning unit
Comments (4)A few months ago there was a post about the apartment remodelling and there was a photo of the disguised wall unit, but I cannot find it now (I was interested too since we are planning to have aircon units installed soon). I recall it was a green or blue room. There are a few other ideas on houzz but basically, they all involve building cupboards. I cannot comment on the safety reg though....See MoreAir conditioning
Comments (3)I am looking for good to look at air conditioning units or failing that an economic ducted system as I really dislike standard wall mounted Air Con. Any ideas?...See MoreAir Source Heating
Comments (14)I looked Into the air source pumps as a solution and all was looking well until I tried to apply for the grant. my home had a gas boiler on a single pipe system and was not powerful enough to heat the house. lucky if 5 rooms got heated. full heating system needed overhauling especially now as we built an extension. recommendations were that we could get the air source pumps in and get a grant. estimated cost based on our house size was 12k. rebate would be around 10k so effectively would cost us 2k. however the plan was to get this financed and the rebates would cover the cost. however the grant was refused as we were not changing from oil or electric heating and the main heat source in the area was gas. we are now having had central heating installed with unvented boiler at approx 11k. the estimated running costs of air pumps was likely going to cost a little bit more each year as electricity is more expensive than gas unless we had solar panels also. there is a tool available online for you to use to compare. might be worth a comparison....See MoreHas anyone successfully transferred heat from stove to other rooms?
Comments (5)It was obviously designed that way to start with so there isn’t a huge amount you can do with your current stove except leave doors open as OnePlan mentioned above. We have a little fan on ours to push the hot air out but it will only reach so far. Our bungalow is the same ie warm in th extension (all the living areas) as south facing and freezing on the North side. We have only just started to put the central heating on for 20 mins at night to take the nip out of the air in the bedrooms. Not needed the rads for our open plan rooms yet where the log burner is. Luckily we prefer a cooler bedroom! Ha ha...See MoreTanya Draper
