Hallway layout/storage hell! any ideas on how to reimagine needed!

We are a family of four and have a semi detached Victorian house with a narrow hallway. There is no understairs storage (taken up by a loo and a water tank!), and so we are exploding coats and shoes!
Any creative ideas of building into the wall or boxing off a space to tuck away ‘stuff’? Our is hanging/stand alone storage the only way.
Layout is attached - we had considered closing off the door to what’s called the dining room here as we use this whole floor as an open plan space and so never access through here. Right wall is attached to a neighbouring house.
Any ideas most welcome!
