Help with Ground Floor Plan Design
Comments (5)One plan- yes others in the street have extended to the front, although most have done a full height 2 storey extension - so the precedent is there. Jen - it is a lovely layout but we have the opportunity and the money to make it perfect before we move in so would rather reconfigure it now. The combined dining/kitchen would be only 3m deep, and we couldn't extend to the back as the garden is just about the right size - we don't want to eat into it. Plus the living room feels too long and narrow at 5m deep...See Morewhat would you do with this layout?
Comments (2)Although it closes off the lounge, it makes for a better kitchen, so i'd probably go for something like this. Besides which, not everyone wants their main lounge open to a kitchen / diner....See MoreWhat would you do with this layout
Comments (1)Please see my first idea below. I assumed that you would extend the front and will be able to move WC to the front of the house. That would give us larger living room which can be divided with sliding door so the access to the living room would be via dining room. The space where currently is WC could be used for kitchen larder and the toilet at the front of the house could be easily accessed by guests. I also suspect that open plan living is not what you are looking for. I hope that helps....See MoreBungalow Layout-What Would You Do?
Comments (11)No advice on the floor plan but we did a full bungalow renovation living mainly on site with children (aged 7 & 9) a few years back. We did quite a bit of work ourselves but had trades in for full replumb & new bathrooms, full rewire, extension build & loft conversion plus replastering everywhere. We only moved out for 2 weeks when we didn’t have a toilet. Other than that it was doable but be prepared for clearing up at the end of each day. Plan out what you need first - E.g children’s bedrooms or an extension & a working kitchen & work towards that before doing other things. Don’t knock through to the extension until the work is done - there will be a lot of dust, which isn’t healthy so keep young ch away from that as much as possible. You can deal with it as long as you lower your expectations for a few months! E.g, we had only a microwave for cooking for 9 months as the kitchen ended up being one of the last things we did due to its relocation, but it was ok so long as I didn’t try to do a full roast! Good luck with it!...See MoreKay Moden
