bedroom colour help pls

My wife is looking to keep existing wallpaper for a house we just purchased, but maybe just one wall as it’s a bit much on all walls.

Can anyone recommend (or send photos) of what colour we could paint the room to make it look nice?

The carpet will also go, so not sure what colour to go with there either

So that the walls and floor go well, try matching a color from the wallpaper, try one of the less obvious colors - like the grey in the branch. I'm not sure which way to go - one tone darker in the wall color and lighter floor, or to go darker in the carpet and match in the wall. A grienge might be a shade match, and is warm rather than a cold shade.

Hi there, difficult to tell too much from the photo, but my guess is it is currently creams and dark browns. Aubergine is a good suggestion, with a hint of olive or (if you're brave!) lime green for a dash of subtle contrast (don't overdo it). Anther palette which works will with these base colours is peacock blue/teal with little splashes of copper and iridescent green. I'd try to get a hint of metallic threads in somewhere, and if it weren't for your feature wallpaper (with which it would clash), I'd add some bold Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired curtains for texture and a touch of drama!

Your bed seems perfect for a nice soft romantic look, I would go for a floral paper behind bed (Raipur floral from wall paperdirect) is romantic but bang on trend colour wise, if you could, put fitted wardrobes along the wall behind the door, move your dresser to the alcove where your wardrobe is now, maybe invest in some drawers for under the bed also, storage seems a bit of a problem, and I would go with maybe stiffkey blue paint for the rest of the walls. This will give a nice cosy atmosphere to your room. A place to go and unwind. You could you white and silver accessories for that fresh feeling too. Nothing like crisp white bed linen. @Rozanne K, it's great your son doesn't bother, he trusts you. But ask him for the final word anyway. Colours influence our moods and feelings, it's a good read. For a 13, if you really love and want dark colour for his bedroom then we would recommend using the bold on/as a feature wall. Use a colour to influence his mood. Pick up the right wall though, so he sees the colour and that it has some light in. Paint other walls and ceiling in another complimentary colour, brighter than darker. I would paint the ceiling and walls the same, then go with the blue grey below. it could be the palest pink, off white, pale blue. I don’t think any more colours would be a good idea, but as suggested you can add more with bedding, cushions and art. Here’s a couple of pics I found of boat decor. Not all bedrooms, but I’m looking more at the colour combinations. Especially love the first one.

My friend has similar wallpaper on one wall in her living/dining Room. She teamed it with white furniture, pale grey carpet and sofas and a tartan armchair is grey and yellow. Curtains were a similar but larger pattern as the wallpaper. The other walls were Dulux Polished Pebble, a pale grey. It looks lovely but I don’t have a picture I’m afraid.
