Sealing dark wall paint so doesn't mark?

I have some special mixed paint I made myself with various colours and so I can't get a silk version made in it.
It's super dark navy and like ALL dark matt paint, it marks white ('smudges' I believe is the correct term) when you touch it.
So rather than repaint it lighter, I was wondering if there was a sealer I could paint over it ie like a varnish but for walls?? Don't want to make it awkward for future painting though 😬

Hi Tani, I think it’s the same stuff you’d use for the plaster! I’m not sure how dear it would work out though if you want the dead flat finish as it suggests 2 coats of satin first. Also suggests testing on colours

im guessing you’d need a suitable primer before repainting in the future?!

Thanks, Minnie! Next time I will avoid dark matt colours and go straight for the satin or silk 🤣🤣
I've read on it that you can't roller it on either and have to do it by brush 😱 Might be faster to buy new paint and redo it in that case.

Hello Marion, I think the tv can stay but the height of the plant would add to it and give a softer appearance.. Put it in a lovely pot and sit it in front.. Also have you thought about a small dark wooden unit for tv that would compliment the dining table and the sideboard? That would also help.. For the dining area I would suggest a large mirror but you have the tree.. It does look like there was a chimney breast and possibly the fireplace is still there? but has been plastered over and room has been divided since. Again it is hard to see as the pictures are not of the whole room or as much can fit at the angle of the shot. If this is a partition wall could it be removed? It would open out that part of the room. Is the other side of that chimney breast on the other side where the fish tank is? It would mean then that the fireplace is at the dining end of your rooms.. I can just make out a very subtle light fitting.. Is this a pendant and if so can it be lowered a fraction? One last thing.. When you have decided what to paint the chimney breast.. Think of complimentary curtains (mentioned earlier) and cushions and throws for the sofa and chairs to compliment.. : ))

Kitchen Republic, how did you fare with the Aura or other Benjamin Moore paint tests? I am looking to compare LG intelligent vs Aura or Regal. I have subjected the LG intelligent eggshell and intelligent matt to an overnight test of 1) ketchup 2) brown teabag squashed against the wall 3) chocolate milk runs on the wall and all came off easily and left zero marks. I was amazed but am put off by the small range of off whites in LG. I have tried them all and none of them come close to the paper examples, they were all disappointing (slaked lime, flint, loft white). (I am wondering if the slaked lime was a miss mix at Brewers). What is your experience of BM paints in terms of scrubbability and burnish resistance?

After having seen the style and look you like, although we spoke about dark cabinets initially, with the floor you have chosen which would compliment any style, how about considering a natural wood like worktop? If you would like a light, and airy look and feel to the kitchen, neutral coloured cabinets would suit the look of your kitchen, paired with a slightly darker splashback to add that luxe feel back to the kitchen. This combination of a darker splashback, with wood and then lighter cabinets would also work well with your accent gold bar stools in the first image you showed. Keeping the foundation of your kitchen balanced and adding accessories such as gold bar stools and some decorative elements to give it that sparkle and glint that you like! (featured here is our petrol blue splashback panel, however I feel our blueberry panel would also work really well with this combination)

We are in UK. Bungalow with loft conversion. We have kitchen/diner with an open staircase in it which goes up to 3 bedrooms, all with a door and windows. If we had another floor up, we wouldn't be able to have this and wondered to enclose the stairs

I’ve got a really flat finish in my downstairs loo and it’s the same. I didn’t realise you couldn’t roll it! 3 coats by hand would be tough and expensive!

I have found another one - think it's ronseal and shoukd be arriving soon. Some people gave it bad reviews but that's because they didn't paint all the wall and it left tide marks 🤣 obvious really but 🤷‍♀️
Worth a try and I can roller it so will let you know how it goes! It was the main issue with my navy bedroom ie walls marked too easily for a rental.. Hoping this will help 🤞
