Ronseal Perfect Finish Teak furniture oil stain

Hi

I recently used the Ronseal Perfect finish on my garden table, It is far to orange looking for my liking and I just wondered if there is any way to easily remove it? Thank you

Unfortunately not, it is a stain and the colour on the tin will mix with the colour of the wood it is going onto so the colour it says it is is not always what the finished colour will be when applied.

As it is an oil it will penetrate the wood so it is not easy to remove, however it will fade in time and a light sanding will help to tone down the colour.

If you are ever just wanting to protect the timber use a clear oil, this will just enhance the original colour of the wood.

Danielle H - The artwork came from home sense. An impulse buy which really probably doesnt link but I just loved them so bought them! Now wondering about putting them elsewhere as worried it's all just a great big mess that will make my visitors get a headache :-). I'm still defo wanting to paper tho... might move the strip a bit further along to get the feel. And I'm still tidying up a bit to get a pic ;o)

Hey there. Well, both options have their pros and cons. Painting your furniture can give it a fresh new look while getting new chairs and tables can completely transform your outdoor space. It really depends on your budget and personal preference. Good for you Resh and it is great to see pieces of furniture being given a new breath of life. Personally I am not convinced by all of your finishes, but the techniques are spot on. I would however consider using more than one coat of finishing lacquer/paint especially when you start spraying. In our workshops we sand the paint through all of the processes, i.e. primer, first coat and then the final coat is buffed up to bring a sheen to the final finish. Depending on the quality of the piece of furniture we may well have a primer and then three coats and painting with sanding to each layer other than the final one. With regards to handles, etc., why not have a look at ebay as you often see old/used handles/knobs at very low cost. You can also check your local recycling centre as often these are salvaged from furniture that has been thrown away. Likewise you could also find pieces in the recycling centre that have been put to one side for re-sale at low prices. Other options to find handles/knobs are in bric a brac type shops., etc. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future.

ooh thanks guys! Nice to have some replies. Thanks, it's very cute it was sort of a faux mahogany colour before, this is much nicer. Lot of elbow grease haha! Perhaps then I could treat it with Osmo oil first as it looks like it might bring out the warmth of the colour a bit and offer some level of protection. And then I can add wax on top. Any recommendations on wax?
