What colour / style front door?
This is a picture of our house that is being built. There will be a canopy above the front door and running to the left; all the way to the end of the house. The windows are in a colour called Painswick which is the same as Agate grey; this is RAL 7038.
The opening for the front door is 2.6m wide and 2.1m high. Any ideas on colours and style for the front door that would suit the house?

2 years agoIs the plan to have a 'normal' sized front door and then panels either side? I think the Painswick is a lovely colour and the door would look great if it matched. Although this is a new house, I think a Victorian style door would look lovely.

I think I have settled on the attached as the front door. Undecided on black or blue. I really like some of the modern ones but worried they would look too modern for the house. Comments (26)Dear Gail as far as I can tell from your photo the existing rosewood looks very attractive, indeed it is probably the most attractive rosewood house I have ever seen. In my opinion It is planting that will make the biggest difference, even, as people have already proposed, just adding some planters - however take your time in choosing the right planters/shrubs and plants. Lechuza (www.lechuza.co.uk/) do self watering/sub irrigation planters - nothing worse to bring down the even most attractive house than dried out uncared for planters/garden. Mona Pantsava (available amongst others at www.waterirrigation.co.uk - purchased my water timers here and received great customer care with one faulty timer after a year from purchase) do a range of sub irrigation tanks for standard planters and pots that are not so expensive as lechuza and open up wider choice but you will have to put extra effort in to make your own up (www.albopepper.com explains concept of sub irrigation very well) and give thought to weather resistance. Or look at sprinkler/drip feed watering system. I definitely think improving the planting will make the biggest difference. Would the inner door fit on the porch outside area which would keep the outside of the house in the same colour frames/doors and then have something more glass orientated inside so it’s not dark with the porch added. I do think that the dark beams aren’t in keeping with the oak coloured windows and doors though....See More

2 years agoAs Agate Grey is a cross between Slate Grey and Chartwell Green (according to rockdoor.com), maybe a dark green door with frames to match your windows. Something like this.
