Exteriors Windows Design Dilemma

Respray composite APeer door

Does anyone know if composite Apeer doors can be re sprayed, what type of colour is recommended and how to do it? We’re changing the garage door to charcoal and the front door is sage colour about 5yrs old so don’t want to replace it.

What a lovely front door. Do you need to change it? The front door and garage doors don’t have to match. Sorry have no idea in the respraying question!

Yes, that is a lovely door! I’m smiling because I’m planning to paint my anthracite composite front door a pale silvery sage. I’ll use Zinsser Allcoat Exterior, probably RAL7044, and a brush. The colour of your door would be perfect 😁

Matt or Gloss are both very nice. There are so many other things to consider, it really depends on what kind of overall look you are creating. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Talk it through with your local Kitchen shop or other related trades, like tile shops etc.

Hi Rheanu. Tbh honest I didn't even look for guarantee so assuming it's the standard 12 months as man about the house said. My front door is quite sheltered so doesn't get battered by the weather as such. I have to say, I am incredibly happy with it tho, even the pizza man commented lol! I was sceptical as the website isn't the best but took a chance and ordered from they're website and it's been fitted for a year now . It was the price that won me over , I paid £650 which was a lot cheaper than quotes I received from Yale and global door.they were both around the 1k mark. :)

Hi, I would definitely consider repainting the doors (especially if it works out cheaper) and would consider a dark grey with blue undertone to co-ordinate with your tiles whilst cutting between the wood / wood sort colours and shades. I would also change the door handles if you then would like to go for a wood worktop, I don't think It would look over the top. Alternativly, if you feel that you dont want a high maintenance worktop, I would look at the wood effect laminate worktops, they do vary in quality depending on where you buy but many nowadays are made to be tough and durable and require no additional maintenance except the usual cleans to maintain hygiene. Front door looks nice but I understand the want to change to match garage. Heard spray paint gives an even finish. Should also check warranty on door to make sure this doesn’t invalidate it.

Out of curiosity does the opaque glass still let good amount of light in? Told it makes no difference to clear but just gives more privacy?

@debzip the opaque glass lets a lot of light in , and definitely more privacy. It does a great job, my hallway gets all the sun first thing in the morning and very bright.

We have to change the garage door unfortunately as it’s a motorised one and because we’re converting part of the garage into a utility we need to get rid of the door unfortunately to gain that space where motor sits ☹️
The door is great condition but no choice I’m afraid

The other option would be to l ave the door as is and get the roller garage door in white 🤔
But I like the look of charcoal doors/garage they’re in style currently.. big dilemma now!!

You could do the charcoal garage door first and see if you think it works with the current front door, then paint the door if you feel it needs it?
