how would you decorate this room

Our living area is an open concept and I’m really struggling to decorate it!
Would love some ideas

The area with the pendants looks like it was laid out with a dining table in mind. A round glass top style might be an idea as introducing another wood may conflict with the beautiful floor. Wood legs might be okay, if you were careful in the colouring, but a table being completely wood might be too much.
The floor rug in the lounge needs to go up a couple of sizes. Pics with a large rug with the feet of the lounge actually on the edge look proportioned, your current covering doesn't give that vision.
Are you keeping the lounge furniture? If yes you could put the two chairs at either end or 'side' of a couch, but a couch which is visually lighter as they are very solid and heavy chairs.

It looks like it's missing a dining table?

I guess it depends on the style of house and what ever else is in it. Love grey, we have grey plaid wool. However, also love a jot of colour.

I really do like the blue actually, and the gallery wall! Plants are a good idea too- brilliant. Thanks for the ideas. Easier to decide when you can see it. Will deffo get a matching light shade or something to go with the floor lamp. Velvet curtains look pretty too..

How would you furnish this awkward living room/dining room/kitchen

Hi. Personally I'd put a slatted room divider (just the unit width) at the end of the sink run to allow light and zone the kitchen area slightly. (I will try and find a picture showing the same in a similar kitchen). Assuming the fridge isn't staying, I'd just buy a white one so it blends in, maybe like a retro style one as they look a bit prettier. I'd also opt for a round table. You could paint the wall (and rad) behind the table a darker/warmer colour and add art. Hang the light low over the table to zone it and maybe have a mirror or mirror tiles on the left wall. You could also consider acrylic chairs as they don't visually fill the space. I'd go for a wider curtain pole to maximise light coming in. Sofa, choose something on legs with narrow arms, being able to see the floor will make the room bigger and maximise seating. I also wouldn't choose anything dark as it could take over the room, just use dark/warm colours for cushions and throw if wanted. There are plug in wall lights around which won't take up any floor space. I don't know if you need storage but you should be able to fit a sideboard between the dining and living area? Re shopping suggestions, you don't have any ideabooks set up so could you give people an idea of styles and colours you like?

I agree with all the other comments. Go for softer, warm colours on the walls. Not the brightest white, but an off-white. Also, black and red is quite a harsh, contrasting colour combination. Again, I'd go with less contrast and warmer colours. So, if you love a black sofa, go with beige and brown, maybe a touch of burnt orange, as your other colours. You'll create a much nicer, cosier room. Also, I always think it is best to not buy everything at once, and only buy what you love. Not because the shop thinks it goes well together, but because it makes you feel good. Which means that if you love the look of black, white and red, go for it. Even though we all say: don't do it :-D Also, measure! Measure and measure again! If you like a particular sofa, you can use paper or tape to put the dimensions of that sofa out on the floor so it gives you an idea of how much space it takes up. You wouldn't be the first who buys a 3-seater, matching 2-seater and big comfy chair, just to discover that you don't really have space for it. On a personal note: I'm not a fan of matching furniture sets anyway. Will you need a dining table in this room too?
