Alternative to IKEA Gladelig dinner set?

I‘ve fell in love with the design and style of the Gladelig dinner set sold by Ikea but it appears to be out of stock everywhere :(

Does anyone know where I would be able to get a similar style set thats still ”budget” friendly?

We had a similar project and gutted the house. Rewire replaster all walls and ceilings. We restored the original parquet flooring and then new carpets everywhere else. Knocked through between kitchen and dining room, new garage roof. New doors and work surface but kept the original kitchen units. Kept the bathroom but put in a new floor. Did this for about £10k. Now 18 months later we're looking at extending the kitchen diner into a big open plan room going out the back as you have suggested but also out to the side. Our neighbours have done similar and we think we can get it done for about 30-40k not including the kitchen. The side extension means a fair bit of structural steel so if you don't do this then it saves a fair bit - our other neighbours have done this. We want an open but defined space so we're looking at keeping a pillar (also cheaper) then having an L shaped kitchen diner around a more relaxed sitting and entertaining area. The idea being that for dinner parties you mill around and have drinks in here before going to eat. Also can have friends round for coffee etc while the front living room remains the primary TV watching area. We'd keep a small boot room off the back for the dog, a pantry in the middle and a toilet at the front. See below for some pictures that illustrate our plans. These are mine and just awaiting our architects plans. In summary I'd get it up to a basic standard until you've got a bit more then go big, although as you say with your cheap labour you might get what you want for the money!

Verena and MATH - I wish I had some nice pics for you, but I really is just a shell, still. Bare walls, exposed cabling, etc. BUT, I can share a few of my kitchen sketches if of interest... Pic 1 is the plan that went out the window this past weekend as we decided on stacked ovens next to the fridge. Pic 2 uses a magic corner to make the most of the corner space where the pantry would have been. In this scenario, upon reflection, I'd put the pull-out pins between the magic corner and the sink so that the first two units you see have the same door type (is that OCD?) The issue with this one is that I lose my 'dish pantry' from that corner, and I really wanted to be able to come in and make a cup of tea and a sandwich without having to go further than the sink. I also want DH to be able to set the table without having to come into the working aisle to get the dishes and cutlery. Perhaps I'm overthinking it, but... Pic 3 reinstates the dish drawers in that corner (although the actual base corner is not used). After doing this drawing I decided I'd have a small set of drawers for cling film, foil and dish towels between the dish drawers and the sink (again for continuity of the fronts), and put the bins in first position on the island (shown in the last pic). I'm a bit gutted to have lost the pantry, but I'm really pleased with the stacked ovens. I'm trying to convince myself that I can split pantry items between the corner upper cabinets (bread, jams, tea, coffee, snacks), and the island (tins, pasta, grains, sauces, spices, etc - the stuff for actual cooking). Hi Ben, I like the 2nd last design, the one without the cupboard opposite the boiler. Having a wall unit there breaks the sight line and makes it feel cluttered. I would use the shelves for glasses and cups. I have wood worktops from worktop express. Great quality, just a little wear 3 years on. We opted for an oil finish and need to do the 1st re-oil soon. We have a dishwasher so minimal dishes done but the sink is siliconed under it's rim. Water doesn't seem to be an issue yet.

Hi everybody, thank you so much for your help! I quite like the idea of a warm grey, as Steven suggested. We haven't really considered glass splashback, Shaun, we were set on tiles, but I'll be going out this weekend and would certainly look at both, hopefully come back with a few samples. Minnie, I really like the tiles and rug you've chosen. We had a rug under the coffee table, that was lighter, it didn't last! I think we will need something more hardwearing. I would love to have a plant on the left of the TV, but unfortunately the radiator is there. I might have to look for a plant that enjoys the heat! I had initially chosen a shelf to go above the TV and it was long and white and it just didn't look right. I'll try again with smaller staggered ones. The mirrors above the dining table were from the old layout and I tried to find a use for them but I can see how a nice picture would work better. The pink cushions are really nice, Carolina. We only kept the grey ones because they came with the sofa. I know what you mean about the chair under the stairs. We do pull it out whenever someone comes over and can sit around the table. Even if it blocks the walkway while it's being used! :)) I will get to work and come back with more photos :)
