which tiles did you use in the kitchen?

hi those tiles, behind the shelves, above the hob in the kitchen are gorgeous we’re looking to achieve a similar look I’m just wondering what they are called?

These tiles are known as Zellige tiles. They are from Morocco. In this case they are from a company called Mosaic del Sur. Look them up online.

I used the pale version of slaked lime (which makes a great substitute for white in a bright room) but the darker one may suit better. Also, it looks beautiful with wood flooring. Portland stone also is lovely but with a more olivey tone.

Happy to help. Your kitchen planner or interior designer will work from industry standard measurements for the height of the counter and where the cupboards should be positioned for the reach of an average person. The gap should be approx 450mm. In kitchens that are already built sometimes it isn't - because the person who built it was crazy or very tall or both. As yours will be from scratch you have the chance to build it so it works ergonomically as well as visually. Something you can check with your designer or planner and take it from there.

I find these colours work well with taupe. Maybe one of the lighter ones may be preferable for a dark space. You could also change the plinths and handles to black to give more contrast and punch. Maybe worth getting some paint chips to see which colours worth best then when you decide on a colour then look for a sample tile. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Although we tiled our kitchen with tied mosaic sheet I would also consider glass splash backs, they are so much easier to fit and keep clean for your layout. The people we bought our splash back from did panels to size and cut outs for electrical sockets. You just use the provided glue to stick it to the wall. I think they were called something like ‘premier range’ but we found two different suppliers online and went with the best value. We also found anti bacterial plastic sheets online which came in a range of colours. These are designed for commercial kitchens and used these to smooth off a wall behind our fridges and freezer. These would also be good as you can cut them on site and stick with siroflex grip and grab adhesive.
