Faded wooden stairs

Hi,

I've started sanding the back corners of my stair treads and the sun has bleached the main part, making the corners stand out. I've tried danish oil but the colour difference doesn't change much.

I'd like to avoid painting them if possible - can anyone suggest a solution other than to stain them a darker colour?

It would entirely depend on how it's constructed. Usually the marble treads are laid on top of a concrete construction or block construction. You could in theory attach a wooden balustrade to concrete, it's not done a lot, but it's possible. Do you mean like this?

Advice on DIY wooden sleeper wall with stairs

I want to make a wall with stairs with oak wooden sleepers for our front drive. Please see attached design. I have no previous experience in this at all and have just been watching tons of YouTube videos to see what can be done. My plan is to have vertical posts/stakes cemented in which will sit behind the sleepers for extra support. I want them behind and not infront for asthetic purposes. For extra support, i will have deadmen / t-bar supports which will be going in towards the drive and I will support them by connecting them all together. This video explains much clearer what i want to do.... https://youtu.be/QFybIwCpsfo I will have gravel at the base of the wall, inside, with also a perforated pipe for drainage. I will run this along the whole length and will come out at either ends where there is grass. (As shown in the video as well). The wall will be around 1.5 metres high and we are thinking of then having resin for the driveway area and gravel for the rest but that may change when we are ready to do that part. The stairs seen to be the biggest challenge. Do I secure each row with a stake? Just wanted to know if I am doing the right things.

Can I paint over existing paint on a wooden staircase?

Hello, The idea is to get to a final result as the picture on the right. On the left, that's my staircase. After removing the carpet, filling holes, and a bit of sanding, I realised that the old paint running along what I guess was once a runner doesn't come off. What's more, between the painted areas and the bare wood, the surface is uneven (because of the existing layer of paint). I would like to avoid stripping off the old paint and paint directly over it. Shall I try to sand it more? What would you suggest to get a good finish look ?
