Kitchen design check

Hi, we are redesigning our kitchen. We have been to Wren, howdens and diy kitchens. Diy kitchen is coming out the best with the best quality units. Just wondered if anyone would mind looking at our design and seeing if we've made best use of the space? We want to open the space out and remove the peninsula as it causes a blockage when walking through and we wanted to move the cooker as there is no where to prep beside it. What do you guys think? Thanks guys. The main prep area is the island. I’m currently rejigging it to have a larger bin on the island. Re the island depth, the granite is 2500x1350 and there’s 600mm oak wrap over the end. We could make the base cupboards the people end shallower. I can’t swing the island the other way due to the doors through to the bifold doors and a pesky pillar. The baking cupboard could have a slide out shelf for the mixer, but the pull up mechanism would give me the island space to weigh out ingredients etc. The other option I’ve been playing around with is the hob on the back wall with a 500mm base unit each side, then the fridge & freezer one side and both ovens in one tall unit & a breakfast cupboard next to that. Then I’ve added a 500mm tall unit either side of the dresser, one for baking & one for snacks and shrank the middle section by putting in a 300 wine fridge instead of the 600. This leaves the island as purely prep space with a 600mm unit of bins and a prep sink. I’m not sure whether this would be less social than the hob on the island though?

I think I would have the row of tall units going up to the ceiling so visually they’d feel like part of the wall. ignore everything on the main run in this pic but could you add a tall unit next to the oven (for the boiler or could you it move to the WC?)and have the shelves meet the worktop as shown? Given the hob position you could add wall lights on the sink run?

Something along these lines could work - and give you better room between range and island and allow the fridge freezer to be opened fully ... extra cabinets in the dining room provide additional storage if required... I’ve added images into a shared folder with public access for you. Hope it helps ! DIY kitchens normally look through it for you. I would avoid Wren like the plague and be wary of dealing with Howdens. A trade account is required to purchase.

Have you looked at an independent company?

No we haven't, not sure they'd be able to compete with the cost. I've heard lots of bad things on Wren so was quite wary managed to use the design they made though so not all lost! Wondering if there was anything glaring obvious that we may have missed?!

I think there are too many wall units, do you really need them all. Makes it look tight and not the open/spacious look you are aiming for.

The wall units are very bitty, if you want them try keeping them together.

I don't think the curved corner base units work if you're having wood worktops as the stave direction isn't right to my eye, ok if you're not having wood. Also the pull out extractor doesn't work, you either need end panels on both sides or change it to a canopy extractor as the pelmet hasn't anything to butt up against. the curved wall unit to the left of the window i don't think will look/work properly especially for the cornice and pelmet, it really needs another unit next to it but there's no room so i'd just have a unit running into the corner. I'd move the microwave as i think wall unit m/waves are pretty useless and dangerous as they're to high. The double door larder looks like it has a large infill above so its at the 2300 height, that doesn't look right to me, you could consider 2120 tall towers and have top boxes above and infill up to the ceiling for all the towers on that side.

TBH its a bit difficult to tell from the photo's and images. Certainly getting rid of the peninsular and moving the range over makes sense and you desperately need more practical worktop in your working triangle. I'd advise getting an independant kitchen designer to come over to have a look.
