Comments (7)Hi Natalie Pretorius, Congratulations on your new home! An exiting project for you. It may help if you posted a few pictures of the property as it is now please. Joe is correct above that there is lots you could do with the property. I would try keeping all the bedrooms together with the bathroom and creating an open plan kitchen/living/diner the other end of the property - depending on your preferences of course. That would include a small extension. If you went into the roof and could fit a master suite up there then I would look at opening up the kitchen and dining space into one space to maximise the room and open the whole thing up to the garden (front or back depending on location). Have you spoken to anyone/had anyone out to see what is possible in the space? This is where you need to start. Once you know what you can do - what walls can be moved, what extensions are possible, then I would recommend you chat to a designers or concept planner to think through your ideas and get the absolute best from your space. These are two community threads that you may find useful at this stage. https://www.houzz.co.uk/discussions/first-house-renovation-where-to-start-dsvw-vd~4610487 https://www.houzz.co.uk/discussions/when-do-i-involve-an-architect-dsvw-vd~4604072 I hope it helps. It's exiting but I know it can be quite a daunting time. All the best, Gina...See MoreOpinions needed on this bungalow design.
Comments (32)Hi. Attached is an updated plan I was working on over Christmas. Before anyone asks, I wasn't tipsy doing this, my PC packed in, so I drew everything freestyle on my phone, hence the occasional wonky lines. Anything can change inc measurements as it's only ideas to give to my architect who I've got an appointment with soon... if anyone would like to give their opinion on the plan, I'd really appreciate it. Some additional info: North - land currently for sale for a housing site East - best view. South - farm fields view West - views of neighbouring bungalows gardens. My plot is 1.75 acres. My hubby gets up at 5am for work so having a walk in wardrobe and ensuite next to each other means less walking through the bedroom when I'm sleeping. I love the glazed gable end as attached which I would like in the kitchen. I also like tall windows on either side of the fireplace in the lounge. I know many people split the location of bedrooms in a bungalow to reduce the hallways but as a mam to young ones, this isn't suitable for us. I should have put a study in this design somewhere but despite the size, I couldn't think where to place it....See MoreNeed ideas re design please
Comments (20)Hi Sarah. What a fabulous house you will have! Exciting. Your house has to represent you and I think if you have looked at what you need and you need the utility and pantry I would go ahead with those. I have recently completed a project with a hidden door to the pantry and it is a fabulous feature to have. This does take space from the kitchen itself so it is definitely important to look at exactly what is needed in the visible kitchen area and make sure nothing will need to be sacrificed. How how much space you have is really important so would great to take a look at the actual plans. As a concept planner, we do lots of investigation before designing - looking at your requirements, what works in your room, how you use the space. Looking at multiple options all in 3D so you can truly see how the space will look and feel. Having something like this done for your project will help you no end. Allowing you see the different options for the pantry/laundry area and how much each options gets you in terms of what fits in and the maneuverability of the space. It will also allow you to see If the bathroom is your main and only bathroom then I love the size and use of the space but I too think the wardrobe (bedroom layouts) can be made a little more usable for you. Do you have some plans you can up load with dimensions? All the best, Gina...See MoreNew property design extension and internal layout
Comments (7)Agree with Tamp about the sloping roof/round window being more aesthetically pleasing than the mock up. Also re: the render. I think it's a lovely looking house and it will make it very generic. I'd so keep the windows white as well to retain its period charm. By saving money here (I'd imagine realigning the roof would cos a fortune) I would knock down the sunroom and take down the dividing walls to the rooms across the back of the house, then having a lovely open plan kitchen, dining, lounging area open to the garden with bifolds or similar. I think I'd even knock the wall down from the hall so as you enter so you can see right through to the back of the house. You'd still have a separate lounge at the front and space, I'm sure, for a separate utility. Rather than a porch (or maybe as well as?) I'd consider converting the garage for a playroom/office or similar because it looks rather small for a modern car. Sorry I'm no good at mocking up plans and don't know whether all that structural internal work is a lottery winning budget but I'd def spend my money downstairs initially as its where you spend most of your waking hours. Good luck, fabulous potential....See MoreMomomomom Mnininini
