Restoring a metal mirror - help!

I’ve bought a John Lewis mirror for a bargain basement price and I’m hoping to upcycle it a bit. It’s a brass colour on the frame but made from aluminium. It’s a bit scuffed and scratched so looking for advice on how to restore or respray it?

What a lovely mirror. I would just give it a good clean. I would worry that the spray paint won’t match and unsure of the quality of the paint, so may make things worse? Is the damage excessive?

Thanks Sonia, there are quite a few scuffs like the one I’ve put up of the close up so I think I’ll need to do something. Will start with a clean and see how it looks. Unfortunately in some places the top layer of brass coloured coating has come off where it’s scratched. Wondering if I could take it somewhere for a professional to do it? If there is such a place!

The floor in the hall is engineered oak , the stairs will have anew carpet which i haven't yet chosen. I was thinking of a either a grey or a striped carpet with blues and greys if I can find one I like and can afford. @Goodwood Originals, You can't be outvoted on railing colours as this isn't a vote! This is advice from random strangers on the internet, and you can ignore 100% of it if you wish. You should not feel you have to use a colour you don't like. Green was a very popular colour for helping railings blend into greenery (the Bronze Green and Invisible Green are both copies of traditional colours for railings). However, your railings are more decorative than the average park railings and there's plenty of scope for deciding that they should be painted to stand out a bit rather than disappear. I think that's what I would actually do in your place - I think the modern stark white is too bright but a softer white/off white would work well with a darker green detail than they've used.Don't feel you have to aim for 'tradition' either. After all, you were thinking of painting your door stifkey blue which is a very modern colour both in terms of technology and fashion. I find colour history a fascinating subject but the vast majority of people get it 100% wrong when they imagine the colours of the past.

I think I’d go for a simple round mirror. This is the Apartment mirror from Dunelm which is 75cm, I’m not sure from where you’ve measured though but i’d leave a few cms gap from the light switch. I’d pick up the coral in the art for the lampshade with a similar shaped base, maybe in an off white if you don’t like the orange. I’d also add accessories maybe just 2 others so 3 in total and mix the height. You seem to have a bit of a coastal vibe so maybe a preserved flower bouquet including grasses (try Shida Preserve)

My mum used to use Brasso on metal so may be worth looking at?
