Engineered Wood Flooring - oiled, brushed, lacquered etc

last month

Just about to buy engineered wood flooring for a large proportion of our house. I'm a bit baffled by the various finishes available - oiled, brushed, lacquered etc. What do the different finishes translate into, in terms of real life durability and look? I can order samples of course but they are often so small that it's difficult to imagine the whole look, and they don't give any clue about durability. The websites seem to say virtually the same thing about all the different finishes. Would appreciate hearing experiences from anyone who has engineered wood. I don't want LVT by the way - I know there are fans of it on here but I really want real wood so don't try to persuade me otherwise!! :)
