Dressing Table and wallpaper advice!

Hello!

I have finished putting the wardrobes together in my dressing room, however I am not sure about which dressing table to get and what colour wallpaper / paint to buy. From pictures you'll see I purchased a stool and a chair (it is dark green). Advice appreciated!

It depends on what you want to achieve. White is fine, warm white.

Thanks for the comment! I suppose I wanted to add a bit of colour by buying a dressing table which would be a bit quirky. I ordered a dark navy one (and changed my mind) then a pastel green one (and changed my mind again!), now I'm thinking maybe a natural wood one?

Here in Oregon, we refer to a den as more of a manly, comfy room. Part office, part tv room. The family room is like a living room but with a tv. A living room is generally more formal and used for casual conversation. For a house that doesn't have a family and living room both, the words are interchangeable though, which can get confusing for people used to more formal living. We are fairly informal around here. I would assume drywall is like plasterboard. When houses are built, the framing goes in, filled with insulation on exterior walls, then all of the studs get covered with big sheets of drywall that then gets all the seems "taped" and smoothed and then texture is sprayed over it all, then paint. Drywall isn't used in all rooms, there is a special kind called green board used in bathrooms, which is mold resistant. Cement board is also used on any walls or floors where tile is being applied, like bathrooms or kitchens, which is also mold resistant. I am loving this subject! It's so fun to see what people all over the world call different things.

Hi, I was just looking at staircases for a project I am working on and came across the images of your hall and your post. I have read all the good comments but could not resist ... throwing a couple of things into the mix that you could consider (budget permitting) ... Oak Parquet flooring is lovely but sometimes the yellow tones often highlighted with sunlight and age affects the choices we make for the walls and banisters and we fancy a change. Replacing the floor would be expensive, however, a relatively cheap and easy option would be to employ a flooring company to sand your existing wood floors. They basically sand them back and then you can choose from a huge number of tones of wood that you would like them to stain/oil/varnish the floor. (It took my guys a couple of days to complete). With the floor in the tone you love... you can then look at the walls and banisters etc. I would recommend painting your current wood banisters that would offer a new look. You could paint the spindles and varnish/paint the banister in another colour i.e. black etc. I would potentially suggest painting the spindles in the same colour as the ceilings. In the F and B colour palette, they use strong white alongside Elephants breath, skimming stone and Dove Tail. I would paint the spindles/stair woodwork Strong White (estate eggshell) and the ceilings Strong White (matt emulsion). I would use the wallpaper you love on the ground floor in between all the doors for maximum effect and a cohesive look. Wallpaper would not take as much traffic on the ground floor walls as it would on the stairwell and could look fabulous. You would then paint the skirting boards , and door architraves in elephants breath, skimming stone , dove tail etc. (Modern Emulsion) Finally, the stair wall (opposite banisters) could either be painted in the same colour as the architrave/skirtings, or a complimentary colour from the palette (either Elephants breath, skimming stone, elephants breath etc.) (Modern Emulsion) Both options would look great. Modern Emulsion is good to use on the stair wall as you can easily wipe it down. Good luck with your refurb. :-)

I love Josette wallpaper. I used it on my chimney breast in my old bedroom. Loved it so much, another shade went up under the dado up the stairs and in the hall in my house too. We then moved and we have it now in our new bedroom in yet another shade! I put the paper up in my old bedroom. It’s tricky but not the worst paper I have ever hung.

Hi. I hope you don't mind me saying but the stage area may be outgrown quite quickly unless you put in a big stage but I'm not sure there's the room. If you do go for a stage, I'd put it in the top left corner as you come through the door with the bed in the right corner with the pink style canopy (which should just fit?). Personally I love the canopy pictured against the wall (you can also tuck drapes out of harms way) and it will grow with your daughter. Your daughter certainly knows her own mind btw! The striped wallpaper would be good on that back bed wall with a canopy. You could mix striped wallpaper with patterned on the other walls if she wants that ie the stars? I would probably try and keep it a little simple though with the feature wall and duck egg on others if you want the room to last. I love the pink and green lights in your pic, maybe someing similar with pink and duck egg? . Maybe try some decals in the dressing table area or go for the star wallpaper?

Right:) The top picture works well.

Paint all the room warm white, or neutral Ammonite, and use the wall on the right as a feature wall, paint it with Peignoir. Add real plant near table, hang pictures/posters on the feature wall (white/greay/oak frames) and you will love it:)

Its very grey, maybe use a muted green on the walls and put a large mirror opposite the wardrobes?

A feature wallpaper would look great on the main wall in this space! If you opt for a dark green feature wall, it will really compliment the chair.
