I’m looking to purchase a breakfast bar with the same granite.
I’m unsure what the name of the granite is.

it says J J 1909, my house was built in 1984 so it must have come from the old man's parents' house? His surname was Jacquier. i have been trying to brush the cast iron plate with a toothbrush, a lot of soot has come off but there's a lot of creosote on there. i'm going to see if there's something a bit more efficient than my son's old toothbrush!! also, because of the bicarbonate i can't get in there without getting my jeans dirty! really pleased with it though! might do another wash and see if i can get any more off!

I just sold my home which was a completely renovated (by me) Victorian mid terrace. We had installed excellent double glazing, a brand new very efficient boiler and new rads with thermostats in every room. But my God was that house the most draughty place ever!!!! Not only was it cold on the ground (rads could actually make it warm when needed) but the dust throughout my house was beyond comprehension!!!! It all came through the floorboards (also refinished!) and skirting. Note to those wishing to refinish their floors... take them up first and insulate from below!! I still loved that house though.... (it was just in the wrong county)

What you are describing is marble rather than granite which has different veining and would likely be darker. There are lots of local suppliers you can visit or whoever fitted your kitchen may be able to recommend someone. Don’t worry if they seem to be some distance away- most travel. You might also look at products like silestone which is a quartz. This will also be pale but will be harder wearing than marble. Marble is porous so does easily Mark and chip- some people like this look as it gives the worktop a heritage feel and is identifiable as marble but having chosen marble previously I would likely choose quartz next time.
