Living room help
Hi All, I am struggling with the final details for my living room. I'm struggling to see what it needs to make it feel more homely, at the moment I think its looks like a waiting room!
When the sun is shining it looks very nice but when its cloudy and poor light it looks so dull and cold.
I think i need a floor lamp but i can't think what type and where it should go.
You can also see behind the TV i have purchased a new TV but I'm struggling to find a decent TV stand / bench. It has to go where the original TV is because of the ariel and Sky connections.
Any help with ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Lose the animal skin and choose one large beautiful multi coloured rug (could be very modern, ethnic, or even antique) to reflect the sofa colours and add cushions to echo the rug colours. This will bring the sofas together and unify the lost space between them. Then the rest will follow naturally; e,g, art, ornaments coffee tables lamps etc;. You might like to think about a radiator cover that stretched across the whole of that wall with a shelf on top and VERY large flat louvres across the entire width. This will make that wall appear to be wider and the full width louvres will accentuate that feel. Above, on the shelf sit lovely modern vases, glass ornaments etc; above that a large stunning piece of art. Comments (4)I personally would paint all the woodwork white or off white including the fireplace surround. A mishmash of colours will look disjointed. As to wall colour a very pale duck egg could work. Dulux Ocean Ripple is a lovely pale hue. If you want a more definite blue, then F&B Oval Room Blue is lovely but quite dark. One thing I would do is take the tie backs off the curtains, open the curtains right back, and let them hang straight down. I have a couple of generic suggestions that would work in the space - a large mirror in a nice frame or a gallery wall with black and white photos of family and friends in random frames purchased from charity/second hand shops. Comments (20)Completely agree, would have loved to have gone wooden flooring but lost the battle with the other half :)) I’ll certainly look at the options to swop out the kindling for a larger piece. 2 years agoYour idea about needing lamps to help provide warmth is right on. You could go for the arc style lamp but i fear the polished chrome may add to the 'chill' and your room style doesn't need anything fussy - ie crystals or frills. Maybe a simple pillar and material shade style? Am thinking either a tall lamp on a table, or a medium height floor standing lamp.

2 years agoAh ok, im not sure it will fit with the bookcase but try it anyway. I’m a complete technophobe but i thought if you had sky q you didnt need any aeriel connections etc.
If that were the case you could leave the black sofas where they are and move the tv that end.
id go for some form of tripod lamp and as the furniture is quite traditional maybe a modern persian rug.

2 years agolast modified: 2 years agoI love the floor, just what I want, did you have it laid? Real wood? Anyway to your subject. I am nobody to offer advice but I do think blue is very cold, I'm uploading a picture of the kitchen that comes with my house-to-be and a picture of the Dulux paint "Golden Sands" I intend for the walls and or maybe the kitchen units. Love the blue but it needs warmth. The "gold" is strong but not as strong as the photo suggests, I have in my current sitting room.
