How best to re do shower and tiling

We are looking to remove our sink and relocate. Allowing us to extend the shower. Would any of you great Houzzer’s have some ideas for screen, tiling etc?

I have no idea of what styles you like but thought of this bathroom when i saw your floor so wood vanity, dark fittings etc. the Hoxton tile by mandarin stone in white may work for the shower, it looks to have a pinky tone. The 3rd pic is just showing a whole shower in the same tile

That's true they don't do oil based! I've used little Greene intelligent eggshell (water based) on my kitchen cabinets and am really happy with how hard wearing it is which has been on 3 years. Just walnut is a great colour, it can have a pink undertone which some people like and some don't. Their Egyptian cotton is also a great colour. F&B elephants breath is very popular but can read as more grey if the rooms are lacking light or try the lighter skimming stone which is close to Egyptian cotton. It might be worth looking at little Greene Rubine ashes or the slightly darker dash of soot or limestone or mortar.

Re-tiling under log burner- how difficult is it?

Thank you Angela, that's super helpful! Did he have to cut the flu down as the log burner will go back in a couple of centimetres higher or is there any easy way around it? Did you use special tiles or would normal Limestone tiles be okay so you think? Thanks for taking the time to reply and share the pic!

So... managed to find time to discuss it late last night, and we definitely like the idea of being able to make bed 3 larger. I've taken it slightly further in some ways but less in others to try and minimise the cost hopefully as bf thinks that regardless of what we do, it'll end up being prohibitively expensive to re-organise upstairs. This plan would : Keep doorways off the landing to bed 2/3 the same as they are currently (I appreciate the benefits of moving them in terms of not having it right at the top of the stairs, however there's still room for a stair gate at the top of the stairs (should we ever need one), and has never been a problem for us since we've been here regardless of who's stayed (almost 6 years). Removing your study area - we have a separate office/mancave downstairs, and I always work at the dining table even when I had an office space if doing work at home, allowing us to have a bigger family bathroom (maybe a pocket door) with hopefully room for a bath and walk in shower? (as actually the 2 bathrooms we'd be joining are quite compact!) Still quite a small landing area, which I appreciate is useful for general circulation space, but we'd be reluctant to cut into bed 3 more than we have to, and there'd be just enough room I think to have a small window which would hopefully make it feel more airy at least. FYI the pink line I've added is where we get full height ceilings back, as the front half of bed 2/3 mostly have sloped ceilings, except for where the dormers are, but they drop to about waist height at the front. The back wall of the ensuite would be the current back wall of the ensuite again to help reduce costs... Ideally I'd have preferred to creep it forward an extra 10-20cm to give that room to bed 3, however I think for such a small distance it's probably not worth having to knock down, and build another wall. What do people think? ? Obviously would still need to ask builders re cost etc and bf thinks I'm getting hopes up and it'll cost too much... (Anyone got any rough thoughts how much it might be?) but I did point out we could fit most of the bathroom stuff at a later date.

@offgriduser Should be an easier/more forgiving/less expensive tiling job too. Your tiler could have a better suggestion, but they may just be relieved to not have to do all those cuts and trim around the window! Note of experience: if practicable, do consider buying enough spare tiles to complete the wall, just in case you change your mind. Spares can be stashed behind the bath panel. (I wish I had enough to sort my late mother's weird DIY tiling job out.)

How high is the shower? Every image I’ve looked at just has a plastered ceiling! Could the shower be ceiling mounted?

At its highest point about 6ft 6 then slopes to about 5ft 6. It’s the slope I’m not sure what to do with, tile or not. The idea of a shower in the ceiling sounds very sensible

I think there are waterproofers on the market for plaster if you didn’t want to tile the slope, I’d speak to the bathroom fitter.

We have just done this very same conversion to create a walk in shower from a cubicle. We don’t have a sloping ceiling but the difference it has made to the space is huge! We used mandarin stone Hoxton tiles in pink but behind it all is a water resistant backer board so you should probably have that on your ceiling slope as well
As it comes down quite low.
In my experience bathroom conversions are expensive! Lots of fiddly jobs, not just switching a shower. But it will look so good once you’ve done it!

I’d tile the slope. I recently stayed at an Air bnb with a tiny sloped showerroom. Shower was suprisingly spacious and had a waterful showerhead.
