Need help with living room!
Comments (14)Absolutely love the idea of curving the built in- that would definitely soften that corner & solve the problem of making room for pushing back the curtains. The rug came with us from previous house so I will be changing it too. Love the curved sofa in the photo above Luciana and the armchairs. We've tried the sofa in a number of places- even tried breaking it up but the shape of the room and the amount of things on each wall means that if we push it away from wall it breaks the flow of our entrance into the hallway & our kitchen. I agree that the mirror is too high- I can't even look into it!! Thanks for all the great ideas- looks like I've a bit more shopping to do!!!...See Morel-shaped living room. Want to add cosy wallpaper
Comments (4)I would choose one wall to wallpaper as a feature wall, perhaps the wall that spans the lounge and dining area as that is well lit. I recently redecorated my kitchen diner and, like you, I wanted to add interest without making it look too busy. I chose a slate-effect paper in dark grey; it looks so effective that I am about to paper the window wall on my staircase with the natural/brown version. There are some fabulous trompe l'oeil papers on the market - what about a wood block effect, a leather-look or a faux library? I found all of these on eBay... Good luck and do, please, post before & after pics when you have finished....See MoreI am trying to create a living room with a victorian look.cosy comfy
Comments (4)It's not easy to purchase 'off the high street' stuff that's for a period look. You need antique shops and online suppliers of one off chairs. Wing back and club chairs are of the Victorian era, so try searching online for that type of thing. Victorians were all about colour and rich textures. Blues, Greens, dark reds in crushed velvets. They also had a good old quantitiy of dark wood, mahogany, then some slightly lighter in Elm and Oak. Basically, richness was the key word. Start with a couple of wing back armchairs in a bold contrastng colour. Get a throw for the sofa to hide it's modern look if you can't replace. A rich rug, dark wood coffee table and side tables. Mixing and matching the woods is ok, as Eclectic is a good look for that Era also. Maybe you could just paint the bottom of the coffee table that you have as it's to country cottage for the right look at the moment....See MoreTurning a dark room into a quirky and cozy cinema room
Comments (13)The original version of this sofa is actually Ligne Roset 'Togo' and has been around since 1973 and is an iconic piece still as popular today. Perfect for childrens rooms, cinema rooms or anywhere you want comfy, cosy seating that still looks stylish. Very practical when upholstered in Alcantara fabric which is durable and washable. We are a Ligne Roset stockist so feel free to contact us for any further information....See Moretab darcy
