POLL: Exposed brick - yay or nay?
Comments (32)I agree with Rennew Traditional Building Materials - it's not a question of what's 'trending' or 'passé', but of really paying attention to the existing building and marrying that with the sensibility of the future inhabitant. Some spaces suit the industrial treatment, some don't, and no-one should be forced to be fashionable. I can't help thinking of the old Bauhaus principle of 'truth to materials' though. If you find yourself faking an 'authentically exposed' surface, then something isn't quite clicking in your analysis of what's in front of your nose. Leave it there for a while before trying something too bold. You could always DIY a geometric print as a large canvas/ couple of canvases? I've put alcove cupboards in either side of the fire place and put tv/books/photo albums and some bits and pieces up and it's brought so much colour to the room that I'm glad I didn't go hard in the colour. Will just be looking for some art for another wall. Also got a giant mirror in a lovely colour above the fire place....See MoreCle Campbell
