Thank you for the email.

This was Accoya cladding that was treated to give it a dark stained. It was fitted over a breather membrane and battens.

We have the same type of panelling in our hall and it was oak the same as yours with an oak floor. It just started to feel quite dark and drab but we hesitated to to do anything for fear of messing it up. In the end we painted all the panelling in Farrows French grey, left the doors and floors wood and painted the sides of our staircase and the spindles in Farrows clunch but left the newel posts and the bannister rail as wood - looks like a different hallway - I have never regretted painting it

Problem with these 60s houses is the bricks are ghastly... very little work arounds to that other than external insulate and render. Claddding always poses an issue of longevity and fading of timber (looks good when installed and a cause of regret when it fades). Hi Ellen, We went with a very similar style but from a local company called Unfitted who handmade all their kitchens. We're having the units in a dark inky blue (Como from Zoffany) and a grey / white Quartz top. I can't share a pic yet as it's only being fitted later this month after all our building work is finished but here are some renders from our brilliant designer who helped us pull it all together from the ideas I liked (lots from Blakes!) to actually getting everything ordered and scheduled.

I like contrast... Either go light, or go dark... or both! I think the light floor makes the room even bigger. This is kind of what I am planning. Ever since I painted the "tv wall" black, we have got so comfy I fall asleep a lot, its also great for playing space based games on the xbox as a more immersive experience. Because the husband would throw a mental strop if I lightened that wall, I'm embracing it by another dark wall and a light floor. Carpet is a no hope in light colour with my family and pets so Ive only really got one option...
