Living room colours for beige carpet?

Hi all,

We have bought a carpet for our living room but now struggling to decide on furniture/wall colour. Love this light grey sofa but worried it doesn't go with the carpet, or what other colours to use in the room if it does?

The living room is large and south/south west facing so lots of natural light. Any recommendations on colour scheme would be greatly appreciated! We are not set on anything so open to all suggestions, obviously the carpet is the only given as it's been bought already.

Hi Jenny! everything depends on the amount of light that comes inside the room. Perhaps you could post another picture of the room so I can give you a hand with this?

Thanks for getting back to me, here is a pic of the room currently - bit of a building site I’m afraid (and our temporary sofas pictured still have dust sheets hanging off them!). We have a huge window on the right hand side (second picture) so really bright and loads of natural light.

If you want something a little softer then Mustard and grey can work well, you could use a bold mustard or a pale one depending on tastes. Same goes for pink and grey. Decide what paper style you like, Modern, bold, small print, large print, stripes, flowers??? Then work from there. You may be inspired with the colour scheme if you find a paper you like. For instance if you just google 'pink grey wallpaper' and look at images, this comes up:- If that's not to your liking try 'mustard grey wallpaper' They just help by giving you an idea of what you might like and what goes with what.

Hi Ellie, I’ve attached some extra photos showing the outside of the house & architect drawings of the ground floor. The kitchen was installed earlier this year after we knocked 2 walls down that separated the old kitchen, dining room & hallway that lead from the front door to the front room. I can tell it's East facing, it's exactly like my big lounge which skews everything in terms of colour. In the morning, everything looks yellow, no matter what colour it is. After lunch things look grey, this is possibly when the carpet looks the most blue-ish. It's tricky because the walls and fireplace and furniture is all warm, the carpet is cool but seems to warm up in the last photos. You could add a rug that contains some plum colours and grey to tie it together, repeating some of the carpet colour in cushions etc can also help. But at the end of the day will you ever be happy with it if you feel it clashes?

Considering that the colour choice of your carpet is a light one, I would play with dark shades (for the sofa, for example) giving your interiors an innovative and artistic feel, I would go for deep blues, royal green or an elegant scarlet .
