Mock Tudor boards positioning help

Hi All,

I would really appreciate someone’s help and advise where would be best to position the Mock Tudor Boards.

The photo of the house (currently under construction) is below, please draw your ideas - many thanks in advance!

Do you have to have them at all? A couple of the houses in our road have had the front re-done and have not replaced the mock Tudor boards and it looks good.

Are there other houses in your street that are mock Tudor too that you can use as ideas? Here’s a few I’ve found on Pinterest but painted in paler hues.

I have the same problem. Proud owner of a black Lab that sheds hair constantly. He tries his best to sleep on the bed till we kick him off. I’m inclined to agree with Math and have patterned bedding and plain walls but then I saw this pic and thought of you:) I think the wallpaper is from cole and son. Or maybe work the colours the opposite way round so pattern on the wall and deep colour on the bedding like an emerald green or rich teal then have some white floaty voiles at the window to counteract the strong colours. On a plus note I got a cheap synthetic silky fur throw from Primark that is brilliant with dog hair, shake it and it just glides off.

I completely missed that! LOL. Mornings ;0) - the door will indeed be painted the same colour. I just took it off to paint all the door frame and it’s on my list for the next rainy day (been starting the garden tidy up now the patio is done as it’s a mess!) Only pain is that from the hallway it will be painted a lighter colour so now I have to sand down all the drips on it and the frame as I made a mess, ha ha. Would have loved dark doors in the hall BUT it’s a tiny space with barely any natural light and has 5 doors in it!! (Bungalow) pfff. All wood so have to paint them (horrified smiley face inserted here!!)

I've got exposed beams in my house too, and leave them dark (for now) Re your room, I would start with taking everything except the ceiling beams and perhaps the srround around the fireplace nook back to white (or off white/choice of light grey etc) and see if that brightens it? The bricked up doorway is - interesting? As is the sofa with its back to the room - I get it - its for the view - but its also odd from the room point of view.

Hi Darren, I think when you have the space its always better to go bigger. As life and time changes we all end up needing more storage space in the end. Choosing the larger option also helps disguise more of the plug sockets and cables on that wall which can look insigthly when your sat on the sofa. In order for rooms to feel relaxed and have flow, where possible it's also important to maintain balance but centreing items to each other. Therefore i agree the TV should sit in the middle of the side board. I would also bring the TV down further on the wall. You don't want to be craning your neck and eyes up to look at the TV when sat on the sofa. I'd love to work with you on your interior project.
