Where can I source those small single spotlights?

Look similar to mine which are Philips Hue White Ambiance Runner LED Single Bluetooth Spotlights. If you just need standard spots in that design just search for ‘single spotlight white’ - there are a lot of manufacturers/suppliers out there.

chanti1, my grandparents used to have massive condensation problems with their double glazing as it was added as an afterthought, it had about a 4 inch gap and was not sealed so they would have to keep cloths in the gap to mop it all up. In my parents house there were a couple of windows prone to this problem between the panes - caused when the seal on the double glazed units failed. Because you can't get to it the result is eventually mould. The units had to be changed which to my mind seems drastic and wasteful. There should be a way of removing, cleaning and resealing units on site. Of course condensation happens with single glazing all the time. Where I live now we get condensation on the outside of the window at night. Air conditioning indoors and extreme humidity outside with night time temperatures still in the high twenties centigrade does that.

#Mrs Lanks - having altered our original kitchen when we moved in 13 years ago we are now freshening up paintwork, replacing worktops and installing new appliances as the layout we chose then still works for us. We presently have a Rangemaster but they have changed the style so are considering two single ovens either side by side or on top of each other. If the latter, does the top oven need to be supported rather than just placed on top of the bottom one.....? Also, which brand did you end up buying as we are researching Neff and Bosch which both seem to have a problem cleaning the doors as you apparently need to take the glass door out....!?

Hello Summerfield, Hope you are well and the process of choosing a builder and limiting the works to your budget is not being a pain for you. In my experience, as Maths-wife and i-architect have said, the total cost of the construction depends on the quality you look for and the market situation or even availability of builders. Sometimes it is more expensive to build because they are busier and they ask more for the same work, or just because they don't have experience doing what you are asking them to do. Also, usually good builders are more expensive, because they know they will have work even if they ask for more money. Independently of those circumstances, a good way to calculate the overall cost of the construction for a standard work would be the following: For an extension we estimate around £1800-£2000/sqm. If you are extending/refurbishing around 40sqm, then it would be around £80k just for the foundation, structure, walls, (have in mind that you have a very long metal beam in the design, and it is more expensive to install too). On top of that you have to add the cost of the kitchen (it could be around £15000 including appliances and the kitchen island), the utility and bathroom (£5k each), and the bifolding door (usually I estimate £1000 per panel as average, including supply and installation). Finally, I add around £800-£1000 per skylight (supply and installation too). Adding all of it you could have an idea of the maximum they should ask you for it. Obviously this is including their profit, labour, materials, etc and you can find something cheaper depending, as described above, on the market and each particular construction company. Definitely made to order and a tidy job too - not the most practical for cleaning or inserting bin liners in place though. Finding a large pull-out single bin system for a 600mm cabinet is a bit of a struggle though as we've tried to find a few of them - might be worth finding a freestanding bin and inserting it into a pull-out drawer similar to this idea:
