What's your favorite room in your house?
Comments (5)Bedroom - ours is as much a sitting room as the sitting room is. Our room on ground floor opposite kitchen. OH has been oncology patient for a number of years + so often rests in bed from early evening, watching TV, sorting out soccer fixtures, surfing the web for men's stuff (screw-drivers, power tools, sports results) + Lord alone knows what other chatting + texting. The kids got used to keeping him company especially the boys watching soccer with him. So kinda fell into a habit of all gathering in our room. New BIL felt very awkward first time he visited one afternoon. Sister marched straight into our bedroom + sat on the bed + joined us whilst her man hovered at the bedroom doorway very unsure about crossing the threshold into our room. After 5 mins of having to raise our voice to speak to him he was told to either get into the room or go back + sit in the car! He tentatively joined us after a few of our younger + adult kids wandered in + sat down. One of the best evenings was a late night boxing match we were geared up for. OH had been resting in bed for most of day but was awake + waiting for match, so all 9 of us ended up in the room - 7 in/on bed + 2 perched on chairs, with fizzles + popcorn. After all the pomp and drama in the lead up to the start of the first round ... Great roaring and shouting from us - Gwan my son + dirty move + what's the ref doing ... Ding Ding - end of Round 1! Looked at the OH - sound asleep amongst the mayhem!!!!...See MoreHouzz Pros: Share your trend predictions for 2017
Comments (26)I predict there will be a continued appetite for pale/ white interiors which will fuel innovative ways of delivering this with more finishes and layered whites for interest. I think kitchen cabinets will stay pale but be available in silk or two textured finishes as they move away from gloss and lacquered finishes. Available woods will become paler and more Nordic. I think we will see more textured wall finishes such as wall panels and I think lighting will become more sophisticated allowing us to select warm or cool white from our lighting sources depending on outside light levels and time of day. I think the new metal will be burnished brass and available in kitchen handles, light switches and accessories. I predict a warm summer and inevitably greater spend on outside living with French chic plates and glasswear and more solutions to keep us in the garden with increased choices of patio heaters and soft lighting to enjoy lazy summer evenings and cooler mornings. Let's check in a years time and see if anything came true? I hope so. switches and accessories....See MoreWhat's Trending in Your Houzz?

Comments (21)For most of us, we are affected by the trends. No matter how individual you might feel. Most of us have to go to a shop and buy something to stick in our house. Of course there is bespoke. i guess I could create my own wall colour with determination and a little more hard work (my friend was actually banned from her local paint store for wasting their time with requests for splashes of more tint into her paints until she got it right lol) . Or I'll get a hand woven and dyed beard hair rug to match a nightmare I once had. In the case of curtains, but I've spent alot of time looking for exactly the right fabric and I won't like anything much. So I choose the best one out of the selection available. I suspect many are like me and think, my floor is hard and cold. I need something soft on it. What will look and feel nice, wear well and how can I get it. How much money do I have for this purchase. How soon do I want it (me: now). Then make the decision from there. And because I'm usually restricted by what I can buy from someone by money and time available I am thus somewhat affected by the trends I see in store. That some one has created a year or more ago....See MoreVelvet Ninja
