How to decorate our bedroom??
Comments (6)Hello laine_bedford, Congratulations on moving into your new home! Definitely an exciting time for you and your family, and understandably a difficult task to start your re-decoration process. Here are some pointers: STEP 1: Get Inspired! - Create your own ideabook: - On the Houzz search bar, lookup 'Bedroom' and 'Hotel Room' and filter by your preferred design style; contemporary perhaps? - Please visit our page and check out our ideabook titled 'Creative Headboards'. STEP 2: Select Your Color Scheme! - Base Colour: Most 5 Star Resorts stick to neutral/earth tone colours, choosing to add splashes of colour through use of accessories (bed cushions, artwork, bed throw etc). However, main furniture (bed, bedside tables, table lamps, wardrobes and so forth) remain neutral and either all the same colour or similar. Same applies to the walls; neutral/earth tones. - Accent Colour: As recommended above, have fun choosing a colour(s) that you've been inspired by for your bedroom accessories. This can also apply to your feature wall (where the bed headboard would go). STEP 3: Set You Budget! - Once you know how much you're willing to spend, only then can you make interior decoration decisions (type of headboard/extent of headboard, type of wardrobes, customised built-in-seating in the bay windows, curtains vs. blinds, carpet or wood flooring with rug(s) etc). STEP 4: Source Your FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Fittings) - Make a list of all the things you would need to purchase, prioritising the main pieces (bed, wardrobes etc) and, dependent on your budget, the stores you would need to visit. - Don't forget the bed linen; if you really want the contemporary 'hotel' look, stick to whites. Hope the above helps to get you started. We would be delighted to help you further so please do not hesitate to contact us....See MoreWhen would you sacrifice a bedroom
Comments (34)Money aside then but don't forget a bracket is a guide and if you're a cash buyer for example you could be in a better postion than others.. It's all negotiation and they might try it on so I would still not let that worry you unless it's way off. So until you get an offer accepted or are in sealed bids situation all that's important is try to narrow down the parameters. Perhaps give your list to a somewhat impartial eye who can perhaps be objective about your needs.. Re list if it's list of properties that will be easier than finding a house that fills a list of requirements. Generally no house is absolutely perfect and sometimes compromise is necessary and perhaps some work. This might help you or not :))...See MoreHELP!!! how can i improve my bedroom?????
Comments (9)Hi Melanie. I would keep it painted white and go for the copper theme. I think it's a good idea to swap to blinds. I think it's important for a small room to let in as much light as possible so may consider a roller blind. If not, have a look at these. http://www.blinds-2go.co.uk/roman-blinds/16335/ankara-dusty-rose.html I would add pale grey and blush pink to the scheme hence the blinds! What's opposite the window? Could you add a large copper mirror for more light and to give it a spacious feel? You could consider some good faux flowers for the window sill. For the desk a copper lamp and perhaps just a couple of accessories so as not to clutter. Can the shelf above the bed be removed? You could add some large cushions to act as a headboard. You could also add some art or stencils behind the bed to draw the eye up which should hopefully make the room feel a little larger. What's the ceiling height? Is there a pendant light as you add some interest here. Could you have a go at re-covering the futon? I seriously cannot sew but "re-covered" my garden sofa cushions which look fine from the front!...See MoreNeed your assistance to complete the decoration of my bedroom
Comments (1)Hi Amel, There are lots of questions to ask you. As its a bedroom, I would choose soft colours and keep it neutral. The lighting is very important in a bedroom so I would first change the light and find a modern light that produces a soft glow/ Yellow soft light. Or just change the light bulb :-) if budget is an issue For the curtains, I would go for Roman Blinds as it saves space and you won't need to use as much fabric. I would add a sheer blind too to use during the day. ( you will be able to see out but during the day no one will be able to see in. At night you would use the Roman Blinds Colour of the walls should be nice and gentle colour, for example, Skimming Stone ( Farrow and Ball) or French Grey Pale ( Little Green ). Ask your decorator to mix these colours for you at B&Q with Dulux Colour. Most decorators know this trick to save money on paint. The carpet I would also go for a soft touch grey tone. Most Carpet shops will be able to give you a huge selection of reasonably priced carpets. Please make contact if you have any questions Cigal Kaplan Interiors...See MoreWendy Law
